I have had trouble keeping my temp in the high to mid seventies because I sold my chiller and dont want the excess costs associated with running one. However, now my tank is running at a bit higher temp. Is a temp. range of 79-82 too high? I have read/heard mixed reviews and I'd like some tested input. Thanks in advance, sdreefs always comes through. :D

82 is fine. Put a fan on the water surface, that is the cheapest and easiest solution. Have extra topoff water ready though.

yep. My tank is kept at 79.5-82 depending on the time of year. NO problems. Everyone has been happy.

Mine is always running at 79. In summer some days goes up to 82. Never a problem. Mid seventy might be too low for a tropical reef. The key is not to have a large temperature swing in a day.

Thanks for the input, it has minimized my fears about the temp. situation, and I completely agree on the temp. range regulation, I never go more than +/- 3. :D

I use to stress about this all the time. Now that I have had my tank for a while when it gets really hot in the summer I just make sure my tank doesn't get too hot. My upstairs tank has gotten as high as 86 without casualties.
