Can't remember what this is. Sorry about the phone pic. I'll take another if no one can figure this out. The polyps have a kind of brownish ring around them.
Thanks,

Is it comming out of that tube thing under it? or is that all dead skeleton. If its dead skeleton then I would say a type goniopora but it is kinda hard to tell in that pic.

Do they look like flowers at all? If they look like flowers with 12 petals, it might be an avelapora. 24 petals might be a goni.

They don't really look like flowers. They look like little cups with brown rims. That is when they are 'out'. Otherwise they just look like brown circles on a green background. the skeleton is pretty non-distinct. The pattern is subtle and I haven't counted ridges or anything like that. I will get a better pic when I go home tonight and post that here.
Thanks,

It could be of the Rhizangiidae family, Astrangia or Phyllangia genera. It has been dubbed "hidden cup coral" or "dwarf cup coral" in some books. I have seen some form of them on my rocks. Maybe this is familiar: http://www.sbg.ac.at/ipk/avstudio/pierofun/coral/rhizang.htm. Anyway, it would be neat to see a better picture of it. Good find James!

I'm guessing it's all that remains of a branching gonipora, kinda bleached and pissed at the moment.

It looks a little like this Cyphastrea, so good job DannyBoy! i think I got a deal. $80 for a 3/4 in frag HERE (http://www.atlantisaquarium.net/images/cyph.jpg) and I paid $5 at VMA.

Here it is after I moved it into the office tank where I monitor alk and calc more closely. It has much better polyp extension and I can actually count tentacles (24). I am still uncertain what it is, but I like it and hope it will grow.
