View Full Version : Supplement/Additive question

Back in the dark ages, I used a number of separate supplement/additives for my reef tanks. These included but were not limited to iodine, strontium, and kalkwasser. I have noticed that they now sell things such as Reef Complete which claims to be contain more calcium than kalkwasser plus enough iodine and strontium so that you can use one liquid to accomplish all 3.

Has anyone used this stuff? Does it work well or would I be better off going with all three separate?

One other question...does anyone know where I can get an IV bag? We always used to use them for dosing the kalkwasser as it was a much cheaper and effective alternative to the ready made dosers.

Thanks.

I'm looking for info on this as well. I'm not ready to buy a calcium reactor quite yet. Don't have many corals now but it'll get to be necessary some day...

As for the second part, no direct source, but how about something like this gravity fed doser from Kent Marine? (http://www.marinedepot.com/md_viewItem.asp?idproduct=KM2511)

There's also a 2.5 gallon version...

IV bag used to cost me a few dollars vs. $10+ for the other.

I have gotten them off eBay. The seller pennstatelass usually has them and is where I have gotten mine from.

Someone posted this awhile ago. I made 2 for hella cheap. All u need is some tube, a valve and an old water bottle. Check it out. And thanks again to the guy who originally posted this on SDreefs.

But A IV BAG WOULD BE SO MUCH EASIER to hang and use.
