Ok, so a long store short, I run into Lowe's today, to see if they have usable sand for our needs. Turns out, they carry Oldcastle sand! Now the bad part, it's the silica based kind

I turn the corner, and run into a buddy of mine, and we start chatting. I look to the side, and there is Johnny, the manager of the gardening dept. I mention that since they carry oldcastle products, why not ship in a pallet or two of Oldcastle play sand, the type we use for reef tanks.

He says, "no problem, give me your name and number, I'll have it ordered on monday!"

I'll be damned, my buddy has been long time friends with this guy, and he's going to hook us up.

Now, I do need a UPC number of some kind. If anyone has a bag, or can find the UPC number, it'll help make sure we get the right stuff.

I told him exactly what we were looking for, which is the stuff that is directly taken off the beach and purified/cleaned/sterilized. He knew exactly what I was asking for.

So, I'll hear from Johnny on monday, and I'll find out when it'll be in. We're looking at a pallet or more, and should be much cheaper than anywhere online, since Lowe's already is hooked up with Oldcastle, and there won't be the huge shipping fee's.

I"ll keep everyone updated.

If price is low, then I'll take like 3.
Right now I only have 50lbs of southdown sand.

Yep, sorry. Unfortunately, the Oldcastle that the west coast deals with doesn't bring the stuff we need in

So close, yet so far..

Guess we're stuck paying the 14 bucks a bag.. Still not bad compared to aragonite.
