I was wondering if anyone has tried adding a recirculating pump to a CPR Bak Pak skimmer. I was thinking of adding a maxi-jet 800 to recirculate the water and add more bubbles. Let me know what you guys think.

That's the mod to do,I wouldn't bother with a recirc. mod on a CPR.....the air stone will get you more bubbles with less work.

Thanks for the advice. I going to hold off and convert to a sump set up once I can find a stand and canopy for my 55g. On another note, does anyone know where to buy upvc pipes and fittings?

I don't have the air stone mod. The only change I've made is to replace the pump with a maxijet 1200.

i did the fishing line mod on the intake impeller on my cpr, it dices up the bubbles into smaller bubbles. i was thinking of adding the air stone mod too but i bought a power head driven skimmer to eliminate the air stone over all

I have the air stone mod on mine...It works great and is very easy. Just be careful to not use to big of a drill bit.

I'll give it a try. I tried the bio-ball mod a while back but I destroyed 3 of them before I gave up. I thought I had one that worked but when I plugged it in the impeller didn't spin. It seems like you have to make sure that thing is balanced and cut just right to make it work. I have a bucket full of the bio-balls if anyone wants to try. It's the older style ones that you're supposed to use.

pretty sure the perfect drill bit is 3/16''
