View Full Version : my dog ate a thermometer!!! help

my dog has just chewed up an electric thermometer and i dont know if they have mercury in them or not plz help!!!
i know this might be the wrong forum but plz if anybody knows

Id take it to doctor... oh wait electric??? hmmmm IDK... Call the local animal hospital NOW.

Don't panic yet vet bills are very expensive, I would look very closely at the thermometer and look up the model etc. to see if it might have mercury in it. If you can't find anything I would take him to the emergency animal clinic asap.

called them they said not to worry and i did some research also and it doesnt look like theres any mercury in it

FYI mercury isn't used in aquarium thermometers due to its high level of toxicity and price. It is normally used in an industrial environment where there are other hazmat around. Even the normal cheap types that have the red liquid in it are alcohol based with a nonmercury metallic compound.

thanks for the concern guys but hes fine today no problems and still trying to get in more trouble again, hopefully its not worse next time
