This is the first time I have ever written a Negative feedback, and I hate to do so, but I feel this is something that should be said.


Two weeks ago (1-1-09) I had posted a number of corals for sale from a tank-teardown, Anthony asked me to hold a $15 mushroom rock for him which I agreed to. We communicated several times over the next week via text messaging to find a good mutual time to meet up, unfortunately Anthony wasn't able to make it up here so I stated that I could simply send the mushroom rock down to Clairemont with another guy from my LA-run yesterday (1-14-09) He said that would be perfect. The evening of 1-10-09 I sent him a brief synopsis of how the pickup would work: told him the other guy's name and screen name, gave him the day and the approximate time-window. Last night (1-14-09), the evening of the LA-run / pickup, after hearing back from my Clairemont pickup-guy that Anthony had not made any contact, I called him at 8.52pm to try and sort things out. I informed him of who had his rock and where it was, and to please give him a call to coordinate a pickup. He stated "oh ya, _____, I've got his phone number. I'll give you a call back as well." That is the last either of us have heard from him. He didn't pickup the mushrooms, didn't call either of us, didn't PM or email either of us. FLAKE.


AND, the real kicker is this is the SECOND TIME that Anthony has flaked on me.


Back in Febuary - April 2008 I was attempting to sell my cherry 18.7gallon setup:

He no-showed, no-called, nothing. You can see reference to this in post #23 in the above link. After a solid two weeks had gone by (me meanwhile texting, callling, and/or PM'ing him a good 10+ times), I get a call from him saying so when can he pick up the tank? And, that he didn't like part of the canopy and can I please add a door --though he had seen numerous pictures and had already agreed to a price and the state of the setup. I was desperate enough to agree and spent several days 'fixing' the tank per his specifications and had it finished by the 2nd pick-up date/time we had agreed upon. Several hours after he was supposed to be there I get a hold of him and he states he doesn't have a vehicle large enough to carry the tank....and can I please deliver it to him from my house in Escondido to his down in Pacific Beach. :eek: I delivered it to him.


I was way, way beyond 'ticked off' at him for standing me up, making BS excuses that he should have thought through already, and for having the nerve to have me deliver after everything else. However, I was kind / lenient and didn't want to leave a negative feedback, altough I felt he absolutely 150% deserved one. However, him standing me up (and the other guy as well) again pushed the envelope to the breaking point, hence this post.

I have laid out the facts without scorn, hate, or rude comments and believe myself considerably more than justified and above reproach. In addition, before starting this post I sent him a PM expressing my extreme frustration and stating that I would be leaving him a negative feedback.

Anthony might be a really, truly, genuinly swell guy - I don't know. All I know is that when it comes to buying / selling, in my eyes he is completely un-trustworthy and I will never again to business with him, whether on the buying or selling end.

Anthony - if you feel that I am in the wrong, I welcome you to offer your side of the story for comparison, whether via PM or here after this post.

Anthony was our first experience dealing with anyone from SD Reefs and I am very sad to say it wasn't a great time. We posted several tanks and stands for sale. Had a few people interested from here and tons from Craigslist. Anthony was not the first person who got back to us about wanting the tank. He was the first person from SD Reefs so we decided to give the people on here a try and decided to hold it for him and tell the Craigslist people it was pending. He communicated by phone with my husband for about 24 hours before he came over to look at the tanks.


He said not only did he want the one tank he came over to look at but his roomate would probably want the other one. We told him we had just finished the tank we were setting up and had extra LS and LR. This wasn't just any LS or LR. The live sand was ready to go as it had come out of running systems and the LR was completely coraline encrusted very very nice pieces with no algae. I would say about 3 rubbermaid containers worth of both. Very very large pieces of LR all the way down to small pieces. Atleast a whole tank worth. And container after container of LS. About 100 lbs of each. We gave him these things as like a bonus to like buying the tank and such. Not only did we give him these things in anticipation of him buying the tanks we also gave them to him in our personal containers. We could have easily sold the LR LS but we were hoping to help out other people. At this time it was like 8:45PM and he said he could come back but it would be like an hour. He said he was going to come back with his room mate .


Well he never came back. So not only had we told everyone who wanted to come by that night that it was sold but we waited up for an extra hour thinking he would come back and never did. We tried calling his cell phone several times and he refused to answer. I PM'd him and he claimed the cell was in his car and couldn't hear it and he would be back the next day to grab the tanks. Never showed and again refused to call us back or even answer the phone when we called him. I sent him 2 more PM's after that which he also refused to answer. I can not believe that anyone would be this terrible about taking off with all our LR LS that was basically an add on to the tank sale and then not coming back for the tank. Just down right RUDE! At a minimum he should have done us the courtesy of returning our phone calls and at least saying he didn't want the tanks. I mean he did end up with over probably 200 dollars worth of LR LS. I have since been afraid to buy anything or sell anything to anyone else on the board. I did just decide to pick up some of the DIY food group order thing and I sure hope this turns out better than this or I am sorry to say I will be leaving this board. I just can't imagine staying just to be taken advantage of like this. :2cents:

I see my name popping out in this sentence, so just thought i'd chime in. You WILL NOT be disappointed with the food order. it is not an option! :). my mom and i have been peeling shrimps and popping squids' guts all week. since it is a vital part of reef-keeping (food), we're not taking it lightly and i promise it will be the best!

I'm a regular on SDR and he's the only one that ever caused me trouble the whole time. Everyone on SDR has been very pleasant to deal with and extremely helpful. Beth, I apologize on behalf of everyone that you got a rotten apple on your first bite. I insist you stay:). you will shortly find it to be worth your while.

Dealt with Anthony before when I was breaking down my tank. Sold him most of the stuff and hooked him up with some of my equipments. Good guy. However, he didn't respond to me a few times when I was selling another old setup so decided to sell it to someone else.

So there are good and bad impressions on him. I think Anthony just needs to be more consistent and responsive to people.

All I know is...he was the first person to reply to my new tank set-up, when I posted a photo of it with nothing more than the new aquascaping I had done. No fish, no corals, no nothing. Waited a few hours and No call and no show. Tried calling him twice and no pick up or call back. Had to make an emergency trip to the lfs to trade in my fish that I caught for him which in turn made me late for work. Thought it would be different with this transaction but was wrong. -1 on my part.

I'm not big on leaving feedback, but feel that what happened to me today was not justifiable and should be heard by others. I recently posted some zoas for sale and informed everybody through my post that I would be in SD on Monday. I was then contacted by afitzwater who sent the following pm to me "LA Lakers Zoas 3 polyps - $25
I want one... contact info please!". I replied to his PM with my contact info and he called me shortly there after. afitzwater then asked if I had more than one frag and I told him yes. He stated that he wanted 2 frags for $50. I then offered him 2 extra polyps since he was buying two frags. He sounded grateful and we worked out a time slot to meet 11:00am - 1:00. I later checked my inbox and discovered that he wanted to renegotiate the price "hey i can only spare 40$ on em right now so let me know what you can do for 40$". I figure, whatever. We'll figure something out. I'm not doing this to provide house hold income, just trying to help offset the cost of an expensive hobby and meet some people along the way.
My meeting in SD ended at 12:02pm so I called anthony as we discussed. He answered his phone and told me he was on his way. I asked him if there was a place nearby to eat and we could meet there. He confirmed that there was a shopping center within a mile. I told him that I'll meet him there. At 12:19pm he texts me with the following message " This isn't looking too good... I'm at a dead stop on the freeway... About 20 miles away... Haven't moved in like 5 min". This was totally understandable given the rain, so I immediately call him to let him know don't worry. I'll grab something to eat and wait for him in the parking lot. I proceed to ask him what freeway so I can get an idea of how far he is. He tells me he is on the 8 east, then will head up the 5 north. As soon as we get off of the phone I check my sigalert and google maps from my phone to get an idea of how traffic is. To my surprise it's pretty green with a hint of yellow, but no red at all. Giving him the benefit of the doubt, I chalk this up to a delay in the report. Sitting in my car with lunch in hand and nothing better to do I check it every 10 minutes, green and green. 12:47, I decide to give him a call, but no answer. 12:57pm he texts again "I've only gone about 2 miles.. In dead stop traffic. I check the traffic one last time and it's all green. Knowing that I'll end up sitting there all day, I leave. I later find out that at the same time that I'm waiting for a call back he is on chat on SDReef.

I call him again at 2:11pm and 4:21 to get an explanation, but no answer. I'm not at all upset because he didn't buy the frags. I have a good job, so it's definitely not about the money. What bugs me is that somebody would flake on somebody after confirming at time and place just minutes before. I obviously had to pack up the frags and bring them down from orange county. I understand times are tough for all, so I would have had no issue if he said he didnt think it was a good idea to spend money on the frags. If pride is an issue, he could just tell me that he couldn't make. Either way, would have saved me from sitting in a parking lot for an hour. I've been on several message boards for the last 8 years and this is by far the worst experience I have ever had on any board. I'm hoping this help somebody else in the future.

I was at Anthony's yesterday and today and had a great experience. He was a little hard to get ahold of at first but when things started flowing everything went great. In fact things went so well yesterday that is the reason I went back today. Both times I picked up more than was planned and overall I am very pleased. Here's my experience....

I've given him 5 chances... fool me once, shame on you.. fool me, well, you get the idea.

That favia and chalice "he's not in the money for" never even touched his tank. I held them for him in my tank the whole time after being told he bought these to propagate and that I would receive half. That hollywood stunner only had 8 eyes and a small area of receding tissue when Anthony dropped it off over a month ago. The miami hurrice also had a small area of tissue recession and the third eye along the edge was just barely starting to come in.

The frag tank he was going to put them in I spent a day finishing the plumbing on, never asked nor received anything for it. I simply did it for a fellow reefer

Anywho, when he picked them up and I asked for my share of the frags he told me no (thereby reneging his previous promise) and claimed he'd be dropping these corals right off, picking up a new W&P favia and two onyx clowns as payment, and be right back. I never see him again and never even bothers to respond to my 5+ phone calls and various txt messages. The reason he wanted them back as is cause he sold them to you... at a profit, one he admitted that was large enough to "buy a replacement war and peace frag, make the money back on those frags, and have some money in his pocket". And guess pay for the clowns too. Not exactly his words but damn well close enough.. and proves he's damn well in it for the money.

And of the 8 times Anthony and I have planned to do something, be it we ride together to a frag swap, plumb a tank, whatever, he's only shown up 3 times and it's because it was doing something for him, not to help anyone else out.

On every frag swap where he agreed to drive, he flaked, often without calling leaving me sitting at home on my ass with a box of coral. In fact the 3 times I've actually seen him are;

1- Help him plumb his frag tank, that he turned around and sold (rich you *****ing about coming to help me plumb mine and supposedly being ungrateful)

And PLEASE either stopping making commitments and not following through on them or stop making them at all.

Here's my experience....

I've given him 5 chances... fool me once, shame on you.. fool me, well, you get the idea.

That favia and chalice "he's not in the money for" never even touched his tank. I held them for him in my tank the whole time after being told he bought these to propagate and that I would receive half. That hollywood stunner only had 8 eyes and a small area of receding tissue when Anthony dropped it off over a month ago. The miami hurrice also had a small area of tissue recession and the third eye along the edge was just barely starting to come in.

The frag tank he was going to put them in I spent a day finishing the plumbing on, never asked nor received anything for it. I simply did it for a fellow reefer

Anywho, when he picked them up and I asked for my share of the frags he told me no (thereby reneging his previous promise) and claimed he'd be dropping these corals right off, picking up a new W&P favia and two onyx clowns as payment, and be right back. I never see him again and never even bothers to respond to my 5+ phone calls and various txt messages. The reason he wanted them back as is cause he sold them to you... at a profit, one he admitted that was large enough to "buy a replacement war and peace frag, make the money back on those frags, and have some money in his pocket". And guess pay for the clowns too. Not exactly his words but damn well close enough.. and proves he's damn well in it for the money.

And of the 8 times Anthony and I have planned to do something, be it we ride together to a frag swap, plumb a tank, whatever, he's only shown up 3 times and it's because it was doing something for him, not to help anyone else out.

On every frag swap where he agreed to drive, he flaked, often without calling leaving me sitting at home on my ass with a box of coral. In fact the 3 times I've actually seen him are;

Afitz replied to my trade post back in the day. Clam for LTA. I'm guessing this was when he first started out because he was running a 250ish gallon full of aiptasia-ridden rock, no coraline, maybe 100w of standard flourescent, CPR backpack, and inhabitants you see in a wade pool. I asked him what some of the stuff was and he pointed out to sea urchins, a cucumber, snails, and a clam. I forgot what the one fish was but he said he got everything out of his neighborhood beach. He continued to say that people on the forum can't get enough of his rock and snails. Dude, WTH?! That's when I knew he was a hustler.

I didn't want the LTA back in my tank after it ate a fish, so I took the clam and quarantined her with doses of Joe's to kill off the aips. This was one of the SDR transactions that taught me it's not worth doing a private party livestock deal unless you know the person/system.

My experience with Anthony went fairly well. I bought a SLR from him. I called him, we agreed on a meeting spot close to my house, I got there and he showed up maybe 5 minutes later. No problem with me.

I've come to expect nothing less from him or others on this site. Some people just have a certain respect and understanding for certain people. He and I , do not. He called me crying for my mh 150w and was like I wrote you a message first "wa wa wa" crying like a little girl and then said "I will pay you more I really really really need it bad". Then the phone was cutting out, but it sounded like "I will suck your..." then cut out. So then he said I will pick it up around 3pm the next day, but text me to let me know he is serious. This is after I said too late got someone lined up. Then he did the crying again about he posted first. I was like ok, but call me beforehand. He never called until almost 5pm and I had called him at 3:30. By this time I sold it to someone else and told him too late. That's when he started his typical biatchy attitude. This guy is either spoiled by his mom or has a few screws loose. I would buy at your own risk. If your time is valuable, he will waist it and anyone else involved.

He will also come on here and talk his ****, as if he is normal and all of us who complain are the crazy ones. Then go to those he actually fallowed through with and act as though it is something to be proud of, what a tool.

I'm not big on leaving feedback, but feel that what happened to me today was not justifiable and should be heard by others. I recently posted some zoas for sale and informed everybody through my post that I would be in SD on Monday. I was then contacted by afitzwater who sent the following pm to me "LA Lakers Zoas 3 polyps - $25
I want one... contact info please!". I replied to his PM with my contact info and he called me shortly there after. afitzwater then asked if I had more than one frag and I told him yes. He stated that he wanted 2 frags for $50. I then offered him 2 extra polyps since he was buying two frags. He sounded grateful and we worked out a time slot to meet 11:00am - 1:00. I later checked my inbox and discovered that he wanted to renegotiate the price "hey i can only spare 40$ on em right now so let me know what you can do for 40$". I figure, whatever. We'll figure something out. I'm not doing this to provide house hold income, just trying to help offset the cost of an expensive hobby and meet some people along the way.
My meeting in SD ended at 12:02pm so I called anthony as we discussed. He answered his phone and told me he was on his way. I asked him if there was a place nearby to eat and we could meet there. He confirmed that there was a shopping center within a mile. I told him that I'll meet him there. At 12:19pm he texts me with the following message " This isn't looking too good... I'm at a dead stop on the freeway... About 20 miles away... Haven't moved in like 5 min". This was totally understandable given the rain, so I immediately call him to let him know don't worry. I'll grab something to eat and wait for him in the parking lot. I proceed to ask him what freeway so I can get an idea of how far he is. He tells me he is on the 8 east, then will head up the 5 north. As soon as we get off of the phone I check my sigalert and google maps from my phone to get an idea of how traffic is. To my surprise it's pretty green with a hint of yellow, but no red at all. Giving him the benefit of the doubt, I chalk this up to a delay in the report. Sitting in my car with lunch in hand and nothing better to do I check it every 10 minutes, green and green. 12:47, I decide to give him a call, but no answer. 12:57pm he texts again "I've only gone about 2 miles.. In dead stop traffic. I check the traffic one last time and it's all green. Knowing that I'll end up sitting there all day, I leave. I later find out that at the same time that I'm waiting for a call back he is on chat on SDReef.

I call him again at 2:11pm and 4:21 to get an explanation, but no answer. I'm not at all upset because he didn't buy the frags. I have a good job, so it's definitely not about the money. What bugs me is that somebody would flake on somebody after confirming at time and place just minutes before. I obviously had to pack up the frags and bring them down from orange county. I understand times are tough for all, so I would have had no issue if he said he didnt think it was a good idea to spend money on the frags. If pride is an issue, he could just tell me that he couldn't make. Either way, would have saved me from sitting in a parking lot for an hour. I've been on several message boards for the last 8 years and this is by far the worst experience I have ever had on any board. I'm hoping this help somebody else in the future.

No, I am not his keeper and in case you haven't noticed he has been called out on it several times over the years, oh wait, you pulled up a post from awhile back so you do know. I have dealt with Anthony a few times and have never had an issue. The only thing that comes out of a post like this is name calling and bad attitudes. I understand that you might be upset but common, really, there is a time to just let something go.
