I thought this thread might go with sw lunar lights.

Since I am here, I'll tell you that I ordered LED lights from www.plasmaled.com for my motorcycle ('06 ninja 636).

For the Lunar lights (<$6) on my tank i took a battery powered string of chrismas LED lights cut off the battery holder and soldered on an old cell phone charger that has an output of 4.6vdc. This lit all 15 or so LED's it was too bright so icovered some with black electrical tape so I have about 5 lighting my tank for about 3 hours after my pc lights go out. they are held in place with hot glue and a few zip ties.

An LFS shoutout, the owner at Octopuss Garden was showing me some powerful LED's, bringing out many bands of color I hadn't seen in these otherwises soso zoas I had just brought in. It was a unit of 4 for ~$50 and seeing new colors in my own zoas did impress me... but spent my trade on livestock.

OG is where I got the idea to put LED's on my tank. I had seen old fishes set up and his expensive outter orbit fixture had 4 LED's on it.

LED fixtures don't APPEAR as bright as MH or T5's, while putting out more PAR
I would not go with a LED fixture cause I want the POP or light

I have 4 65W current PC's. The LED are for a moonlight effect once my lights turn off.

I have 12 of the blue LED strip from current USA (same ones that OG sells) that I replaced the 96w blue pcs with. I just removed the bulbs stuck 3 led units in the same spot as the bulb and slid the clear cover back on. Walla! Works great and the blue is much more brighter, not to mention more energy efficent as well, and my corals glow like crazy! So much better than the pcs

I have a small 5 gallon and want to put a single blue LED in the hood (moon/lunar lighting). Does anyone know of a cheaper way than spending $30 at the LFS for a single light. Led bulbs are really cheap >$1. I just dont know how to power them besides using batteries which seems a little pointless. Thanks

It's barely worth the effort to DIY a simple moonlight with 1 or 2 LEDs, IMHO.

Check these (http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?c=3578+3733+10704+12760&pcatid=12760) out...

I use multiple lengths of both blue and white for moon and dawn lights. Not the brightest out there, but pretty good for the money. Nice thing is that they can be daisy-chained as desired, so you can just add more if desired or if you upgrade to a larger tank. They are on sale too..

Except for the $10 shipping making it almost $30. Pointless. I will figure this out and update.

I put 12 3 bulb pods on my bike and they look killer at night. I did blue led's with a candy apple red frame, Full Polished motor and carb and chrome long travel suspension. At night, when I rip up the hills I kick them on so buggies can see me better and it just looks killer when a bike that actually hauls, looks good doing it too! I will see who I got them from. Send me a pm to remind me. I paid 3 bucks a pod. On ebay. but you can buy direct. He's the cheapest around. He also threw in a tiny chrome skull that has red glowing led eyes. He got mounted on my led toggle switch!
