I'm scheduled to work 5hrs at petco on friday, July 4th - a federally recognized national holiday. Is petco required by law to pay 1.5x the normal wages?

The answer is no, but it sucks that they would do that. It does seem common in the retail trade, though. I'll be working on the USS Midway doing a union gig...double-time all day.

the only holiday pay you will get from petco is on christmas i believe. trying to get money from them can be just as hard as trying to get to change the way they keep the animals. i found it to be a lost cause.

Petco is open on Christmas? Wow, that's harsh.
