I bought this aquarium about four years ago, and haven't really spent as much time on it as I should have. Now, I have a baby on the way, and don't see myself having any time for it, so it has to go. I would like to sell the entire set up instead of parting it out.

It's a 125 gallon glass aquarium from aquatic warehouse, I'm not sure the brand. It has an Amiracle sump, and a Euro Reef protein skimmer. I have six power heads in the tank, a cooling fan, automatic top off for the sump that I hooked up to an ro di system under my kitchen sink so I don't need to add water every week. It is set up for 8 96w power compact bulbs, but two of the ballasts are dead, so only four lights come on. I have timers for the lights also. I also have a few spare new bulbs for the lights. I also bought an Aquanetics chiller from a friend who was getting out of the hobby a couple years ago, but never hooked it up. The water doesn't get very hot.

There are currently only two fish in the tank. A Yellow Tang, and a Royal Gramma. I'm not sure what kind of corals are growing in the tank, so don't even bother asking. There are a couple of pictures below.

I'm not sure what I can get for this set up, so if anyone knows, please let me know, or make an offer.

It looks like you have one of the biggest forests of aptasia I have ever seen. You could raise a horde of pepermint shrimps in that bad boy and they would be fed for a while!

Good luck with the sale as it seems like a nice set up for someone with the time to put into it.

Tim, those "corals" are actually a nuisance anemone called Aiptasia, as Louie mentioned. You didn't do anything wrong to get them...they're a common hitchhiker on live rock, and we have to battle them in this hobby quite a bit. They spread like crazy, too.

Good luck with the sale, buddy, and congrats on the impending arrival.

Thanks for the info on the Aiptasia. You're right they do spread like crazy!

How much do you think I can get for this set up?

I have this for sale on Craigslist also, and someone emailed me telling me the rock is worthless now since the Aiptasia is growing on it. Is he right?

No, the live rock is not worthless. I guess he wanted you to give it to him? ;) It just needs to be cleaned off and/or put in with some peppermint shrimp or a copperband butterfly and they'll control the aiptasia. It's still good, biological live rock, if all other things are ok with it. So, don't sweat it.

I'll pm you about the "what it's worth" question.

Btw, peppermint shrimp are cheap, and kinda cool. I got 3 in a group buy here for only like $4 each. The are all doing well and spawning and molting and they love to eat aptasia. Caan pm me if you'd like to buy or borrow them.

Ok, so I figure that if someone gives me $600, they can have it. I have way more than that invested.

Probably get more if you part it out.

I would be willing to take as much of the rock as i can for my 40 gallon set up. Looks like I could take about half of it. Usually is goes for about 2.50 a pound on this site, but due to the infestation I will offer 1.00 a pound.

I ended up selling the entire set up this weekend. I wish I had the time to part it out, but I don't. My loss I guess.

You can give the live rock a 10 minute freshwater bath and it will kill the aptasia on the rock. If you put it back in the same "infected" tank it will come back though.
