Sorry, it was Kmart on Convoy and Clairmont Mesa. They had a huge selection. I bought one of the "turbo" fans and I think it was only like $12.00. Definitely worth it,even if it is a temporary fix.

that's what I was initially looking for too, but they didn't have any. The one I bought is about 10" wide. The cool thing is it has a little hanger on the bottom so I was able to hang it upside down so it could blow across the water.

just brought the fan in today.... =T

i had to ice the crap out of my tank last summer... even with a large fan right on it! no room for tank means cut out a section of my closet and put it on top of my already high dresser. high tank, and the west most facing room in a house with no AC means a hot reef. moved it to the livingroom and my prop tank has a DIY stand... won't go through what i did last year again.

Fans are great. blow air on the top water where there is high flow... I advise people to start freezing 2L pop bottles. for those with large tanks, quick chill by buying bags of ice at the market and dumping them in... this is temporary

To sustain the upcoming months of summer, I heard of CostCo selling a portable room airconditioner for about $100. I am going to look into this and get one for my sump room

I got a used chiller last summer, after my coral start stressing out. my biggest lost was a 100 dollar SPS colony. Another bad part is that when outside is hot and inside get heat up by the chiller. I end up with a high electric bill and a very hot apartment. :(

Besides all that, the worst part is that when there is no wind outside, than it makes it really hard to cool the apartment down. Even if I have all window open. I am going to buy 2-3 fans to push the hot air out of the windowthis year. So cooler air can come in.

I am thinking about keep the MH off for 2-3 days out of each week or reduce the time MH is on. Maybe I will even just run the skimmer at night, instead of all day long.

And those frozen 2L bottles and fan definitly helps out a bit

Good luck everyone, especially those who doesn't have chiller.

just remodel your house, get tile floors. it keeps my house much cooler than outside.

Steady 82 with the halide on, around 76 at night. Almost bought a chiller till I realized that it would only chill my 55 down about 3 degrees. I'll hold out till I can afford a nice 1/3 hp or so.

Yep, unfortunately 6 degree swing. Well, I take that back, that was when it was still cooler at night. I'll check it tonight and see what it's getting to now, but it was swinging 6 degrees a while back. I also dropped my MH time about 2 hours, so it may be less now.

what do you have in your tank? I was having similiar swings and attirbute some losses to that, so i'm wondering if maybe i was incorrect in what caused some things in my tank to die.

Pom Pom Xenia, 1 small leather, zoo's, ricodoras, various shrooms, bout a 5" BTA, bout a 12" LTA, clown and a goby. Oh and a torch coral. No losses yet, hoping for the best. Gonna invest in a chiller before summer.

Werd... Think that's a good idea, rather than having the 6 degree swing, go with a consistant higher temp?

I'll see what it gets down to tomorrow morning and adjust a bit. Thanks for the idea.
