Got banned from Reefcentral

do you think it was fair to get booted from RC for posting a .gif in a retarded thread( thread is titled "OK") that had a depicted (drawling) a girl "going down" on the line "this thread sucks". I wrote them a pissed letter because I think they need to have a little more sense of humor. Its not like I posted it on Disney's site or something. what are your thoughts? Am I a *******? or are they over sensitive. Either way I need a new salty forum bc I dont want to go back there if I could.

if YOU posted that pic you are totally and completely in the wrong. you violated the rules you agreed to when you signed in the first time. all sites have such rules but most people dont read them. you say its not a disney site, the owners would say its not a porn site. their feeling hold sway because they are the OWNERS. proof of their ownership is their ability to boot you. dood, you spray painted graffiti on their wall! a site is just that, private property that others are allowed to write on.

there is this thing called 'incrementalism'. meaning that if left unchecked things (in this case, posts) slowly get more and more 'coarse' as people try to shock each other. site owners fight incrementalism all the time. EVERY site i frequent experience this at some time or another (nano-reef.com leaps to mind). its a full time job to keep everything decent. some sites are VERY strict (nasioc.com leaps to mind) some not so much.

please do not say 'freedom of speech'. that is a theory that protects speech from GOVERNMENT interference. internet sites are private property that can control your speech, like your job for instance. you are restricted there. would you post that pic on your office bullitin board? without repercusions?

i am no prude, i am the loudest, most profane person you can imagine. but private property is private property.

well said nalbar. I am not saying I am right, just thought it was a little rough. I would ban people for posting stupid threads (like this one). but I am not a mod and doubt I would ever want to be. IMO it wasnt very profane, but again its my opinion not those exspressed by the site owner. Either way f it and I will go on to find another (n-r) and soak my knowlage there. I am not claiming the freedom of speach BS but I just think some are too PC. Any child can read Maxim, is it any worse than a cartoon of a girl going down on a sentence? Either way I agreed to their terms of service so I must live by them as much as I dislike it.

hmmmm, if your sales manager allows that he should be fired RIGHT NOW. i helped build the mossey house and trust me, phil mossey would fire your a#@ if he got a complaint. and i helped build jim crawley's (owns north county ford among others in san diego) house and you would be GONE. and yes, this very subject has been spoken about with them. they both said the same thing. allowing that stuff causes a climate that hurt women when they come in to buy cars. and their wives? yikes! if julie mossey or marybeth crawley saw that stuff!

I wouldnt say I am worried, I was just wondering. I dont want to get another name I dont want to go back just looking for some input and I got it from nalbar. I like nano-reef.com more anyways, its more along the lines of where I am anyways(10g and 5g). Plus my big tanks are fresh so pfish.net does what I need there.

Lets face it Reef Central has been in a decline anyways. You post a thread and its like you might as well put on a target to get flammed. Im stoked I found this place with local faces and cool people.
