Pics and Chat

Is there any way we can remove the use of pictures in chat. It's annoying to a number of us (hopefully others will speak up) and when used are usually annoying, entirely too large, and pointless. I don't need to slowturtle posting bs pics like Capt. Picard from Star Trek giving me the finger.

i completely agree. its cool we have a chat feature again that doesnt seem to be slowing anything down but it doesnt need a pic capability.

I don't see anything wrong with pics, as long as it is being used for the right reasons. For example, coral id, or in general where pics are worth a thousand words.

We would prefer to have the chatbox for idle chat. Something like coral ID we would prefer to have posted in a forum.

agree with Peter, post in the forums when it's pertinent and don't bog the chat because you're bored or need attention.....thanks to the ultimately considerate individual that's made it an issue in like 2 days :mad:

i agree as well, i don't like how pics take up a lot of room in the chatbox and pushes so many threads off the screen...then you have to go to the archive if you wanna catch up on a discussion...

Can you put a size limit on the pictures in the chatbox? That way we can post smilies from our accumulated smiley stash, but cant post large pictures that are annoying. Like the avatar size limits!

are the pics somehow disabled? i know people were just putting in IMG code to put pics in there...is there a way to block it? i don't know...i'm not an IT guy. i thought it was just a policy thing...

or maybe a block feature... blocking someone you don't like therefore you can't see their postings in the chatbox that way when they post pics it won't affect your convo, or they can't pm you and what not...

not everyone is that smart and respectful, just as how not everyone sticks to their word and flake out last minute on things the said they want, so you get screwed over... which btw pisses me off... i can easily name 10 people and i've only been on sd reefs for about a week

Well, I can show you guys how to post any small pic you find on the internet, including the thumbnails of your pics on photobucket...

Well, this is how I do it using IE....

1. Just right click on any picture inside the browser window, including thumnails (like those you get as Google Image Search results).

2. Select "Properties".

3. Copy the "Address (URL)" - be sure to copy the whole thing...sometimes it is very long, and there are several lines of text comprising the entire address.

4. Paste the address in the chatbox (or post/thread for that matter) with before it, and [/IMG*] after it, no spaces, and leave out the *.

Example: Google Image Search for "anthias". The first three thumbnails:
