the above thread is a pic of acoustic's tank, though I'm not sure if it's still up. you may want to give him a personal message about some tips related to his tank. good luck. ;)

thinking about a sebae anemone. what do you guys think?

probably want to do a search on the requirements on that anemone. it's very pretty, though. what are you tank specs?

80 watts of light .. 2 powerheads. rocks.. uhhhhhh what else?

triggerSD
12-19-2004, 12:45 PM
along with that sebae you should put in a school of hippo tangs ...

Dont buy a sebae, it'll die and you will be wasting your money just like i did. There is a very low success rate with these anemones and they require established tanks and extremely powerful metal halide lighting. I did alot of research on them a while ago after AW lied and told me it would be fine under my 65 watts of pc lighting i had at the time.

2209
12-19-2004, 02:03 PM
i heard of success with 96 watts. did you buy yours bleached?

but i would take your word into consideration. thanks for the heads up.

thats a nice looking rbta. The sebae i bought was still tan. it lived for a little while and died. I have had more success with bta's except for the last ones I had. for some reason my tank just wont handle them at all right now.

it looks good. i wish you luck, i hope it doesnt die since its not in a mature tank. keep us posted.

...bta after a couple weeks... gl... :( I hope you mean it's been running after going through the cycle for a couple weeks.

12-21-2004, 07:05 PM
lol yeah it looks like you just set it up last weekend? Did you cycle it yet?

If not be a responsible reefer and return the RBTA or sell it, it will soon die.

You may be a commander... but in the reefing game your still a recruit waiting for a haircut. :D jk

12-22-2004, 03:29 PM
but but.. the LFS owner said it was ok. :(

my rocks came out of an established tank so i think it will be ok.

12-22-2004, 03:42 PM
That's a nice RBTA, but...it looks like it will soon outgrow your tank....if you can get it to grow at all with only 80watts of light...in a 15g...

good luck...

2209
12-22-2004, 03:46 PM
does RBTA tend to shrink and then expland alot? why?

To expel waste, or when it's stressed how much is alot.. Honestly.. Take the anenome back to the store, or give it to somebody with an established tank..

IT WILL DIE.

same thing happened to my last anenome and that was after 2 years of having my tank running. I dont know why because I kept one in the past that outgrew my tank. How much did you buy it for?

2209
12-22-2004, 10:29 PM
i got mine for 40.

good price?

the lfs guy... $$ think about it.
while the rock may be mature, the water and tank arent. if you decide to keep the anenome and it dies, it could crash the entire tank. the empire would be lost. save your money, save a life. sell it back to the lfs, or pass it on to a sdreefs member. you can get back what you paid for it. try out some other softies before the rbta while researching...

2209
12-23-2004, 08:46 PM
i shall prevail!...

but seriously if i see that there is something going wrong, ill remove the anemone and put him into my other tank.

until then.. ROMAN!

Also,...for the anemone's well being.....please sponge the intakes of your power heads and power filter (if you haven't already)

The rocks dont have a spot of corraline on them. You sure they are from a mature tank? Not trying to tell you what to do but putting an anemone in a tank that is 2 days old is not a very good idea. Putting anything in a tank that is 2 days old is not a good idea. Good luck though when the cycle starts.
