San Diego Reefs Calander

I'm going to be putting together a calander for 2009. Every month we will hold a photo contest and the winning photo will be the picture for the same month next year. Since we're a little late for January lets go ahead and start it now.

There is only 3 rules:

1. Each member is entitled to enter 1 photo only per month.

2. Pictures must be reef related.

3. Pic must be large enough to make a decent calander pic.

Each month will be categorized and this month is "FISH". So, lets see your best fish photos. Winner for each month will be chosen by poll. Just thought this would be fun.

So, enter your photos on this thread that you would like to be in the running for January. Deadline for entries will be Jan 18th. Following that all entries will be put in another thread to select the winner via poll. Good luck!

I have requested a photography forum for this to take place in, we'll just see how long it takes TV to get it up... hint hint.

If you're really going to do this, don't you think it might be better to catagorize it, one month SPS, the next Fish, then FTS, and so on. Wouldn't it be hard to judge some of those against each other in the same month? Just some thoughts :)

LOL, I'm just saying 'best photo' is a pretty broad and subjective field. I certainly can't go through my stuff and chose a 'best photo' without some kind of subject in mind. Take it easy Matt, I'm just suggesting. Who am I to dictate change :rolleyes: :cool:

Yes pictures have to be taken by you. Not necessarily your own tank though.

I was just wondering if it's a SDReefs thing, or just a reef thing. You said "we" a lot in the original post, so I thought maybe your were doing it in conjunction with moore, or a club.

No club, just a SDreefs thing. I guess i can call it something else if i have to. Can i not include the name SDReefs? No affiliation, just came up with the idea last night by myself. I mean other sites do this though, but this is not tied in with anyone else.

Dude, I'm not questioning your motives or trying to ruin your fun, I was just thinking of some practical questions, that's all. If you plan on selling calendars with SDreefs written on it, it occured to me that maybe moore has something to do with it, might not. I don't know, just thought I'd bring it up. And I thought you'd bnefit from the shoutbox conversation, when we talked about why FTS won't be good, and such. Why the 'tude?

I just got the PM too. There is no monopoly on calendars, and as I understand it, they would barely even overlap. Thats' a non issue for me.

Thats fine with the whole SDReefs thing. I'm sure that doesn't matter to any of us. (of course doesn't make much sense if i'm not making a profit on the name anyways). And not really much work at all, start a few threads, a few polls, and have calanders made up. not much to it at all. Where's your submission TV?
