I think we should have a DIY section where we can share how to make things like homemade:
chillers
skimmers
air silencers
reactors(I can make good carbon and phosban reactors)
etc.

Interesting Idea - but - Reef Central has this as we all know. Should we just work within that, since most DIY is not a local thing?
(Except for Scripps water hoses! :)

Some people can't stand RC, like me. I would rather see it here.......or maybe put up a DIY section with links to the material?

I am with Mike. I asked if we could have this a lonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnngggggggggggggg time ago. It would be better here, because of the nature of DIY. If you are doing it, it is nice to have a local who can help, and will respond to your posts without condescension.

OK, understood - then I am your whiz kid on electrical/electronics  issues and how to make a tank's plumbing systems all run silently.:) Utterly clueless on livestock, and anything alive in the tank.:(

There are too many pages to fumble through to find what you want. Also, RC is also very crowded and there are many people that are not helpful and/or rude. That is not to say there aren't helpful people there, but I would rather not deal with it either way. There is a better opportunity to learn from a smaller forum because almost every voice is heard.

the good thing about having a local DIY page is that you can go "up close and personal" with a local person who is doing things. Face to face, the good old fashioned way!
Technoviking??? How about it????
Victor added one on the SDMAS site:

Local Diy page would be huge for sharing sources for materials. There are a lot of little random places that sell things very useful for diy projects that one would never think of. It could be a very cool part of the forum.
I also hate the dozens of pages of goblegook on RC you have to read through to get to the very helpful info that is there, btw.

Possibly to make things easier to sort through, under the DIY section, you could make different sections relating to different projects, ie: skimmers, refugiums, sump, etc.
