What an idiot. Look how green the glass is from the tint. Also, who buys a glass tank that large and lives near a major fault line?? People will do anything for a brand.

It is not the brand as much as quality.
Elos is very quality glass, and the reason why that one is green is probably because he did not want to spend 5,000 dollars just to get a crystal tank. He is actually very smart, the bevelled glass is probably stonger than any acrylic tank.
If you look at your glass tanks edge you probably cant see, but 1cm deep into the edge, unless you have a starphire aquarium.
Thanks

Correction: it is starfire equivalent glass. the green tint is after water is added! I hope he's not using tap...

Nevermind my arrogance I just read your correction.

DUDE what?. RU serious?. Show me a rimless tank that you can get here that looks as good with a warranty. Also the glass that I have is similar unless he went with the crystal. My tank also looked really wierd when it was empty. Everyone goes "is this starphire". No it's not it's europes regular glass, it's not starphire but there regular glass is almost as clear as starphire. Look at the pic of the guys daughter in the tank, that absolutely does not look green. By the way can you post a pic of your tank, thanks.

Dude, if you are woried about earthquakes go back to Kansas and have fun with your tornados...

I have lived in CA all of my life and have only experienced 1 maybe 2 earthquakes. There is nothing to worry about, he lives in a very expensive town where each house is over a million dollars. I dont think he would be worrying about a 5,000 dollar aquarium cracking on him.

Worry about yourself, no need to call someone stupid because they have a nice aquarium in an earthquake zone...

Someone close this thread please.

I don't know what makes "beveled glass" but acrylic is EXTREMELY strong. it's what they make bullet proof windows out of.... on the scale of shock, acrylic reigns supreme... inch for inch acrylic is stronger. But oh, boy, would I have a completely rimless tank... though it would make me nervous simply based on the history that it's never been done right.... that tank is awesome..

This is what is so awesome that were finally getting these in the states now only because Jesse from Elos wanted to promote this company he decided to get a wherehouse in N.cali and start having these boat freighted in from Europe. They have benn doing these over there for 10 YEARS. We all know the degredation of the acrylic material over time and how easy it's scratched.

No sylicone. Right Ryan?
It is all just one piece of glass the only thing holding it together is glass. Right?
It is a really good tank!

Bogg
11-05-2007, 07:39 PM
No, is that possible?. If it was they would probably be 20 g's. Theres silicone and it's freaking perfect. Makes LeeMar look like a diy'er, with a huge hole in the tube.

a small amato style cube (4 to 10 gallons) is a lot different than a 400 plus gallon tank in in San Fran on an active fault line
