LOL, i'm crazy but not THAT crazy.. For lighting, planning on having 2 or 3 x 55watts in there (2 x actinics 1 x 10k) gonna be softies & LPS and maybe a carpet. I'm not planning on painting the back. Coralline algae should take off in there with the low light. Hopefully in a couple months, the back will be all purple.

MMMmmmm... softies & LPS. i was thinking of setting up a 29 LPS tank. basically an Acan tank ;). make sure you do a good job w/ the set up of this tank so i can just copy if from you. LOL! so far so good. i bet this thing is gonna look amazing in a few months. with your taste in rics & zoos i bet it's gonne be really coloful. good luck will.

that doesnt seem like too low of light to me. if youre supposed to get a purple back in a few months with that lighting, then im doing something wrong. ive got 2x65. slowly creeping along on the rocks. but nothing like youre talking about. i had a little better coraline growth when i had 40 watts of fluorescent. 1 10k and one 03 actinic.

I use to have a 29 gallon acrylic fuge in the place of my new 29 gallon glass tank. It only took 1 month for all the sides to have a good amount of coralline algae on it (about 30% covered), so i suppose it'll be the same for my new tank :)
Anyways, heres a new picture. Added another 10lbs of rock, a brain, a nano frogspawn and 2 mushroom colonies. I'm making good progress, hahaa
very nice, what type of sand are you using?

Damn Will might as well just go ahead and buy a 500 gallon and save your self the trouble of stocking that 29 full and getting another tank.

Alright, here's an update on my 29 gallons. Since the start, I've changed the lighting :) 150w DE 20k Ushio bulb with a NO 8w actinic. Guys, 20ks are seriously the best lighting you can have for your reef tank... Your corals just looks SOOO much better.

That's insane Will. It only took you 17 days for your tank to look like this?

waaahahaa.... actually, it took about 2 days... All the corals in there are new, lol.
Here's some shots with only the 8w actinic on. Makes a pretty cool moon light :)

Sounds good, except for the carpet part..not enough lite.

naw, screw the carpet, it'll eat all my fish, hahaa, besides, i've got a rose in there right now. I have a 150w DE over my 29 right now. The bulb's an ushio 20k, I like it

Will, pics look awesome. I gotta quick question for ya. I just ordered a 150HQi system for my 20L(same length as your 29) and am wondering if one is enough to adequetly light the corals on the sides or if I will need another. What have found with this setup?

The light will be enough. The corners of your tank might be a little bit dimmer, but I'm sure it'll be fine. If you're going to hang the fixure, just hang it up a little higher. It'll look awesome :)

Great updates... JB, the shape of the reflector will have some part in where the light gets spread.
