Some people couldnt make it to the last frag swap, which was pretty awesome for being the first, so lets have another one. You know it will get bigger and better. So get your frags ready....the next meeting will be on..................................?

I can probably have it my place (my wife allowing me). I have a pretty good sized yard, large grill etc. I'm also fairly central, by the 5/805 merge, and just off the 56. Let me ask my wife and maybe we can do it at my place.

definitely sounds great. Once that is assured we have to pick a date. What dates do you guys have in mind?

Hopefully Stan's wife will give the OK. ;)

If she doesn't, I can volunteer my place again....

Okay, when should we do this?

I was a little concerned yesterday. I had my heater blow (literally) and everything started dissolving. Lost an anemone (not the really nice one), maybe a torch, maybe a maxima clam, three different kinds of xenias, a couple of really nice colonies of acros (Mel, you may have to frag off a piece once yours starts growing), a bunch of snails, and who know what else. Couldn't figure out what was going on, except everything started listing, then dissolving. So I checked everything and voila, burst heater. Too late???? We'll see.

So, seeing how I'm going to need things to replace what I had, a frag exchange sounds like a good idea.

The Orange County frag exchange is in March, the Encino frag exchange is in April. When sounds good to do the San Diego one? I have a good sized grill, so we should do it when it gets sunnier.

whoa that's crazy. where was the heater? i keep my display tank heater in the BakPak, the prop tank is safe to keep a heater in, and in my dad's tank'll be an EboJager that's really really strong.

The won brothers titanium heaters are great and not very expensive. The ones I use are the older pro model but they still have a remote sensor that can be placed across the tank from the actual heater.

The other frag swaps are doing something interesting, a grab bag full of ricordias. Do we want to do something like this? M.Parkis, are you interested in organizing this? I know that you may be able to get a bunch. It doesn't have to be ricordias. It could be zoanthids or something else. Determine a price as well.

Hey stan are you thinking frag's or whole corals? Also have you determined a date for this event?

bag full of ricordias sounds reallll nice:D How does it work though?

I'm not sure as far as frags or whole. It seems the other frag swaps are just doing ricordias (probably one or two, I'm guessing).

We don't have to be the same. We can do zoanthids, or ricordias, or sps. M.Parkis, you have the inside scoop here. What do you think we can get as far as maybe 10-15 people. We can place in a paper bag, sell for $10-$20 for each bag and the luck of the draw, you may get something nicer or, at a bare minimum, the something equal to what you paid. M. Parkis, if you don't think this is feasible, I may be able to pull something out of a hat and ask around.

As far as dates, you tell me a month and I will work around it. Remember, March in OC and April in Encino. Should we do May????

I talked to Jason (aka Chap) and they will likely be holding the frag swap at their place.

On a separate note, I spoke about a grab bag of stuff (ricordia's).

This is what they are doing up in Encino:

I'll probably order for myself. They are 7.50 each ricordia. If you are going, you may want to tell O2manyfish ahead of time. I'll be going, so if anybody wants me to pick up a bag or two (tell me quantity), I'll grab one for you (no more paypal, i keep losing money), and I promise not to peek, although you will have to pick up immediately from me or someone else that is going.

when do you need to know by for the ricordea?

kim92111

I think the Encino Frag swap is on April 7th or so. I'm not sure as to when the cut off date is for the ricordia's. You will have to check his thread.

The alternative is to do our own here in SD. We can get M. Parkis, or someone with a good connection to get us some. Tell me what you think. The best thing is to get a trans shipper to order a ton of stuff for us and then we can order stuff.
