I'm going to be getting a dozen red-belly piranhas and I'm wondering if any of you folks would want to help me part them out if you have a freshwater tank setup?

1" babies :P I think it'd be cool to raise them from that small.

Don't get the red bellies.
Go with the black piranhas.
Black Piranhas are very aggressive and will eat any thing. i.e. full size rats.

If your gonna get red bellies you might as well just get Pacu's.
Red Bellies are weak and scare easy.
Only way to enjoy red bellies is if the tank is completely empty.
on a scale of 1 - 10
reds are a 1 and Blacks are a 10

They're only worth keeping if you can keep all or close to all 12. Raise them as a coliny in a large tank, or they will be the most boring skittish fish you ever had imo, uh not that I would know...

Not all red bellies are like that.. I have own a few in the past (school or 12) 6 to 12" and they are very aggressive. I fed them live ducks and rats.. My buddies fingers can tell you they don't play. I started with 3 and they would hide in the tank. Then we got a few more. They soon turned into monsters and killed anything in sight including your fingers.. Blacks can not be housed with any other fish because they are so agressive so I thing a school of reds would be better then 1 black..

Yeah, from what I read every fish has a different aggression level. It has nothing to do with the species.

But as for the size requirements.. I have a 55 gallon long tank setup and from what I've read.. these small piranhas should be fine for at least a year, maybe more. Plenty of time to upgrade to a 100g or bigger.

Of the 12 that I'm getting I think I will keep 6-7 in there.. still deciding.

PM me if you're really interested. I want to get the ball rolling.

How much you asking?

Well it depends how many you want. :P I'm thinking $5 per fish is pretty reasonable.

Yeah that is reasonable,if they are truley piranhas and not pacu.:p Wher do you get them that cheap?

I will only tell that to the buyer! I don't want the site to get shut down because people on here may be against importing piranhas. (which is a very stupid law..)

I used to have three big ones but they were boring so I got rid of them. But I would like to get 12 of them 1'' in size so I can watch them grow and for the fact of that they are more aggresive in a pack.So consider all 12 sold where do you live?
