it probably wasn't the cold... but the temp drop in genera. everything else did OK except a cyphastrea frag that bleached. i'm just glad the rest of the tank is OK. so for those of you who think your lights keep your tank warm enough, and you don't need a heater... think again. better safe than sorry.

it is... keep it on the DL & i'll trade you a frag for a frag of your acan. ;)

they're very healthy BTW.

here's a pic from before the xenia died.

the sun coral actually looked pretty fat in the first pic like Dannyboy said. either way, trust me... they're happy... xenia is dead. note to all: watch for temp drops & make sure you run a heater.

Are xenia really that sensitive? It might be something else, I have a friend with a tank with no heater in the garage with xenia that thrives. Big temp swings didn't seem to have an effect. You probably have some corals in that tank that I would think be more sensative to a temp drop.

I dunno, but I can't seem to keep it alive for more than 2 months. Any sort of change in my tank just kills them, wether it's a temp change or salinity or something else. I think they just hate my tank.

some xenia are so senstive. they do pretty good once established but they do not like change. at close to a 10degree drop in one night i'm surprised everything else looked good afterwards. we've got a heater running on the tank again.
