View Full Version : I'm pathetic..... Farewell SDreefs!

Well, I am pathetic. This is my 4,000th post! I figure this is as good a post as any to say farewell. Or rather, to tell of my rapidly approaching departure.

I will be moving to San Bernardino next weekend (Sept 7-9th) for college and will be up there for 3 years. Next summer I will be getting married (July 19th!!). I’ll be up there for another two years after we get married while my wife finishes her bachelors. I’ve found a nice room for rent for the next year until the wedding. S. Bernie is about an hour and 15 minutes north for any that might ask...

I’m very sad to be leaving the SDreefs community… :( :( I’ve only been a member here for a year and a half, but I’ve learned SOO much from you guys, got a TON of GREAT deals, and met over 230 people (the vast majority of which were awesome peeps!) lol. This has been the greatest community of people I've ever met, everyone is so helpful - it's truly amazing. I'll be sad t leave it, hopefully there's a similar forum up there...?? I’ll probably be on every once in a while to say ‘hi’…

I’ve got a job at an LFS up there… Elliot’s Pet Emporium. They are a full-line store, with FW fish, but no saltwater. They hired me specifically to help them introduce SW to the store and get a toe-in into the SW market there. I’m really excited to be in-charge of that; decided what stock to keep, setting prices, picking them out in LA, etc…. *sweet* I will also be starting my own aquarium – servicing company after I’ve been there a few months. I also might dabble in some online sales, we shall see..

Anyway, THANK YOU every-one! I’ve thoroughly enjoyed getting to know many of you and learn stuff here. Thank you for helping me so much! Hopefully I’ve been able in turn, to help to a few of you also.

If you’re ever up in San Bernardino, let me know!

PS – I will be posting a bunch of stuff FS in the next day or two: (3) PDA’s, cell-phone, car-amp, movies, comp software, etc as well as Corals, and aquaria-related stuff… Please keep an eye out for them and help me get rid of some stuff I don’t need. Some of it will be free, most everything else really cheap, I need some moving-cash!

Thanks guys (and gals) for the kind words! I feel so loved... *sniff*

I WILL be taking my two little tanks with me, don't worry, I'm not going to be abandoning them or the hobby. And I'll definitely check back here frequently, I'll keep my tank's thread up-to-date at least.

It's official, I'm packing up and moving this Friday! Only like, 5 more days!

Hey everyone!

Quick lil update:

The move went smoothly, took couple of days, but I'm situated ok now. I'm loving being out 'on my own!' One BIG negative though, the landlord has said that my electrical outlets were on two separate circuits... as it turns out there's only one. I have a small in-wall AC unit, a mini-fridge, and a mini-freezer all running 24/7, if I have the TV running, the lights on and then I run the toaster-oven, it pops the breaker...ARG. So, I have to juggle things around so I'm not pulling too much juice at once. It sucks. There's no way at the moment that I can bring my aquariums up. Landlord said he's looking for a good electrician that can re-do some of the wiring and add in another circuit or two... I can't move my tanks up till that gets done. Sucks butt.

Otherwise, all is pretty well. I've worked 3 days at the new place -it's cool, but way different compared to being at FH... both good and bad.

Adios!

Thanks Nick.

Hmm...not yet sadly. One of my coworkers has a reef-tank, but he's too much of a stuck up bragart for me to really consider wanting to spend any more time with than I really have to. :D lol
