On behalf of North County, SDMAS, and South Bay Reef Society, I would like to invite all to our Bi-annual San Diego County meeting. In order to make this work, we need donations. What we are asking is $5 per plate and a total of $12 to $15 per family. We will be having a jumper for the kids, bbq for the adults. We will also have a few tanks setup for a frag swap. We want you to bring your family and especially those of you who know someone that might wanna get into this hobby. This will be an all day event at Fiesta Island on September 15th. SDMAS has been doing a raffle and donated quite a few bucks allready. Please give your donations to your group president or visit someone like myself, Victortrav, or MMoore to make your donation. There will also be speakers at the meeting. This should be an event that noone will want to miss! We are also extending the invitation to all LFS and vendors. We wil NOT be serving alcohol! All donations go to kids recreation and food and beverages for those who attend! Any questions, please contact me and I will address any issues you may have. Thanks, Vinny.

if you guys need it, my fiancee is a food and beverage director for a large account. she can order any produce or meats or drinks or snacks, or even equipment you might need on her account. these would be pretty big savings compared to buying from any publicy available place. just get together a list of what you need and how much and i can get a price.

Mazilla, that would be awesome! We are not trying to make any money here! Any money left over will be split among the 3 clubs and used for educational speakers, raffles, reduction of club memberships and anything else that would be beneficial. So tell 1 or tell all about this exciting event! Bring your wife, girlfriend, boyfriend, husband, kids, cousins and friends! Anyone who would like to help out, I will post a schedule for a meeting in a couple weeks to pull our resources and make the purchases of food and supplies for this event! Thanks, Vinny!

Please count me in for 3 (myself, wife and son)...wife may not make it though, but probably.

I read that it's an all day event, but what is the approximate expected start time? I've got a prior engagement at 5:30, so I'd probably show up around 10 and stay until 4, if things will be underway by 10.

Question: Is any sort of permit required for this? Especially when talking about vendor booths?

I just had a conversation with Harold and yes we will need a permit with Park and Rec. dept. and he is willing to help us in doing this task. thank Harold the Man

I spoke w/ the special events coordinator for the City and you guys should have started the application process minimum 60 days prior to the event....BUT since I work w/ her she'll make sure your application slips right through! Party on folks!!

Vinny, I have the special event package for you to fill out. Lmk when you can swing by to get it, you'll need to turn it in asap bro!

Sounds like this is going to be a GREAT TIME!!

Are those areas on a first come first served basis?
I remember when we had a party at vacation island ( i think it was called) my wife and I wanted the covered picnic table area. We got there at 3 in the morning to "reserve" the spot. Lucky for us to cause I guy showed up 20 minutes later to do the same thing.

Fiesta Island is pretty darn huge. Even if there are other things going on I'd think we should be able to find enough space. :)

I'll be there with a 10 x 10 pop up canopy (needs a small repair). Also if anyone needs to know.... I am a great person to give the money to. I am treasurer for SDMAS so for sure you can give it to me. If anyone else (Vinny, victor, justin, etc) wants to offer their services as well, I'll let them speak for themselves...but eventually I think it will all end up in the same place anyway.

I'm going to try to think of a good way to collect all the money from people without having to see everyone in person....Also I want to keep a list of who's paid what...PM me if you intend to pay and go....so I'll track the list from there I guess.

I agree! This is getting to be a little more than I originally wanted to setup. I am totally cool with vendors coming to hang out but no selling!!!!!!! Just to give you a little insight, so far, donations are up to 126 bucks. It costs 160 bucks just for a permit to do some crazy stuff that could take place. PLUS INSURANCE!!!! I don't wanna have to be the one to tell people that its like 30 bucks a person because the people with kids who are jumping on the inflatable playhouse require insurace because the parks and rec dept said so! We could definately do a huge gettogether with vendors and speakers and all the other bells and wistles but it's gonna cost! If vendors are gonna sell, they need to pony up for the party. So, I ask people to think about it and get back to us. Thanks, Vinny.

ok everyone due to a mountatin of obstacles mainly the thunderboat races at fiesta island, reservations for just about everywhere needs to be made like 6 months in advance, price of a permit, and the list goes on. this is not going to be able to happen. If you know of an alternative please let me know. victor

How about Sail Bay? Santa Clara Point is VERY nice, we would need to bring our own BBQs, and everything else. I don't want a refund, I want to NOT have to take this off of my calendar! More centrally located too.
