Hey Dave, you should see the front yard now! Use a little Ironite and alot of water and the grass just brightens up and fills right in those little spots! If you need any help, just hit me up. I can bring the frag tank over thursday or friday. Whatever works best for you. We can get it setup and get it cycling. Thanks again for hosting Dave!

:D Oh lordy, timing is great. Right after payday, right after new raise, 8 hours of OT so far...Hubby says we have to go, and I of course am ever so obedient. Hubby only drinks Ales so thats what we are bringing, with sodas for me. I hope someone brings some good Zoos. I have a little bit of chaeto, one tiny frogspawn frag and a little piece of xenia if anyone wants it for free.

DaveMorris
08-07-2007, 09:49 PM
You may bring snacks if you would like to, but rest assured, there will be no shortage of good food to eat. As far as my tank goes...don't get your hopes up too high. I'm not very happy with it right now. It's not much to look at, IMHO.

I'm the reason they have them. When we were friends I broke myself and them a piece off. They are taken under different lighting(looks like actinic)

O.K I don't want to get into it wit you lets not ruin this thread I didn't say you didn't pay for them,I simply said ''for the price they paid for them''.Also I paid for them I have never and never will take something from that store with out paying unless Ron oks it.I'm not trying to start trouble I just answered Ed's ?.

So I'm going to be the mature one and not say anything or post anything about this again.

Next meeting will be all 3 groups together at fiesta island! I have a guest speaker who is a Marine Biologist at SDSU. Her main focus is on Bacterial and viral infections. She also has a coral club that she started and will be inviting us all to their group! Here's your notice Barometer! Don't miss this one! This will be a family affair so bring the kids, sandcastle making tools, chairs and coolers! I am in the process of making an agenda for the September meeting so stay posted! Thanks, Vinny

i will be there and vinny me you jojo and mike need to do like a conference call get some balls rolling
I agree! we do need to get the balls rollin'! I personally would like to do a frag swap! I heard...... someone else didn't want to!!!!!! I want this to be a family affair but I also want to go home with some killer frags and trade some as well!!! Our guest speaker is such an easy person to listen to! She is interested in obtaining some frags from us to study! Her current subject is Porites. I have been haveing a problem with a GARF Montipora and she suggested some things for me to try. Success may be in my vocabulary if I arrested it in time! If all of you decide not to do a frag swap, I hope that all of you at least have a great time and agree to do this and a frag swap at another time. South Bay Reef Society has their own frag tank setup and a generator is available from one of our members. The preservation of the world we love, is in need of help. I know that in my lifetime, several beautiful species will only exist because of the home aquarist. I know people have talked **** because of the SBRC meetings..... trying to draw a crowd with a frag swap. Well................... Yes we are trying to draw a crowd with a frag swap!!!!!!!! I want several people to have a piece of my favorite corals and hope they enjoy them as much as I do!!!! And eventually frag them for a friend of theirs who they have sponsored in this hobby!! PRESERVATION!!!!!!!!!! IT'S UP TO US!

I know people have talked **** because of the SBRC meetings..... trying to draw a crowd with a frag swap. Well................... Yes we are trying to draw a crowd with a frag swap!!!!!!!!

That's unfortunate to hear.

What's wrong with that? Attracting people to meetings with speakers, demonstrations, frag swaps, information, food, beer :D I see nothing wrong with any of it.

So to be clear...there will be a frag swap on Aug. 19th, but still up in the air for the 3 group September meeting?

rollinghead
08-12-2007, 08:23 AM
Vinny, hey brother! Some people were (I think) put here on this earth to bi*ch, and they do a very good job! Because of all the groups here in SD I feel that their will be many in the future that can feel pride of ownership and maintain a reef tank, because of people that care! I know U care brotherman because U give frags away all the time! U bring a dremel to every frag swap! So if people that R not so fortunate to make $50,000 and up want to have a part of the ocean (because if they don't make 50k in SD god knows they can't afford to go to the beach) in their livingroom, then maybe U guys R doing your calling in life, and don't even know it! :D Thanks for all U guys do! ;)

Jas0863
08-12-2007, 09:02 AM
Well U all what that they're many that lack the 6th sense. The hobbyists are the ones that benefit from the swap and with the shared overall knowledge and experience of the members, you can only become a better hobbyists, far less painful than most of yesteryear. IMO, SB Reef Society is a organization that provides the maps and vehicles for individuals to acquire and maintain successful diverse marine aquariums. Take that to the bank.

Ya know Peter, I will bring the frag tank and I will be bringing frags too for the 3 group meeting. If people don't wanna participate, so be it. I totally agree with what you say Jasper, ALL of YOU FOLKS help in my success! And TIM, I like giving away frags cause I just am that type of personallity. So many have given me things for free too. So tim......Superman?

I would like to remind people to bring their chairs, Frags, Cash, Beer, and stories! I would also like to ask people to bring their containers of dry food that they use. We will be discussing why we like the particular foods we use and I will be doing a demonstration on the way I make food and what I put in it. There will be an open forum at the end of the meeting to discuss particular concerns people may have with their tanks and any cool discoveries/breakthru's you have come across! Can't wait til tomorrow! What a weekend! My Family and I are gonna make a day trip up to Venice Beach and go check out all the freaky deekys people and then hit the reefapalooza event on the way back! Then tomorrow, I get to hang with you folks! SWEEEEEEEEEEEEEET! Vinny.

The meeting was awesome! Thanks Dave for hosting and Vinny for showing us the "Magic-a-la-Vinny" recipe. Dude, no crap, I put some of the food you gave us in the tank and It was like an automatic party starter. Everyone was going nuts. The shrimp were in the corner doing the MC Hammer dance! I gave a chunk to the BTA and I swear after he ate it he looked like he was smiling:) No BS really smiling. Man, what a great dude to show us all how to make it! Peter, I'll keep you posted on the monti, and Jas thanks for the Confusious frag. It a stunner under the atinics! It was definately nice hanging with everyone that was talking my language. Thanks for the great time everyone. And thanks to all who helped me clean out my tank some. Jordan especially, I really didn't want to take that rock home. And an additional after benefit for you....

I brought home some of that fishy food and thought about how to serve it in my 24gal efficiently...well I had an idea. When I was a kid I used to make tiny ice cubes out of my dads bullet trays (he's a cop). So I called him up and asked him to send me some. He's sending me about 6 or so to begin with. If I thaw the mush and put it in these little trays, I should be able to feed the 1/2 cube amount of the homemade fish food without a problem. Anyone else need a way to make smaller fish cubes for your tank? I'll have extra trays I'm sure.
