I hear Cox and Time Warner are decent paying and it's not too hard to learn cable installs. Good Luck with whatever you choose to do :)

Look into Solar Turbines. They pay good @ entry level and most imortant, room for advancement. They pay for your schooling also.

Hey dont take this the wrong way, but get a job at one of the local LFS stores, even if it's a temp thing. Your a local reefer with knowledge and a good guy to deal with, not to mention you have a couple of sweet looking tanks. What a sucky thing though,

will hold my tongue more

Never do that, 9 out of 10 times they have it coming!

Career... it all depend on what type of job that fit you most! business? hand-on? technician of some source? sale(.many.)? School is always good for long term career if you ever want to build up strong foundation! However, it take time!

my2cents, Good luck!
BTW, my wify teach technicians and Engineers at City College!

SDPD is hiring and before you start laughing think about this. A lot of the guys are leaving for other cities which makes advancement that much easier. My cousin made detective not too long ago after being on the job for only five years. He loves working for the Department.

Also...you can sign up with the local Stagehands union and start doing work calls at the Sports Arena, Convention Center, and other venues loading in/out rock shows and conventions. 2500 hours and you are brought in as an apprentice member. It takes about two years to get the hours. Let me know if you need any info. I am a journeyman member of ten years, so I know how it works and can point you in the right direction.

We have a lot of union welders at my company - and they make great money. If I were to throw it all away and do it over, I would weld.

I took the easy road and went into sales...

Be an actor! They make bank and can drive drunk without consequence. When you're big and famous you will need my services as an attorney!

How much to welders make? I'm just curious because I was at NASSCO a few weeks bad and felt terrible for the welders.. out there in full gear, direct sun and 90 deg weather.

With all the overtime that our welders work, they are at-or-near $100K.

Become a CPA. I think that would take a little more time and money than he has available!

Become a consultant....Anyone can be one and it pays good. Just look at the city pension fund fiasco or the Sunroad thing. Nothing like getting hundreds of dollars per hour just for telling people what they should do...
