I just got a tooth implanted, and it cost more than both my reefs combined

I guess I understand why that dentist has such a nice reef tank:)

I would imagine he had dental insurance to pay for the procedure.

No insurance here buddy, I clean fish tanks for a living:(
$3750 later

the dentist charged me 1/4 the price of the crown, due to me giving him some advice on his RBTA that was splitting:)

Dr. Johnson, 3rd floor of that mirror building on walnut, between 3rd and 4th ave in hillcrest

Years ago I went to the best dentist I've ever been to.
It was in TJ believe it or not.
After years of advice from friends and thinking TJ?!!...no way, dirty, gross!
I had a filling fall out a week b4 Christmas, and couldn't get an appointment here for 2 weeks.
My friends wife, a dental ass. gave me a temporary filling kit, which just impacted it.
The day of Christmas the pain was unbearable, and I called my friend who was a spanish teacher and said let's go.
Best dental treatment in one of the most modern and cleanest facilities I've ever been in, and most important they were patient, friendly, and cool.
I'll probably never pay for a dentist here again.
Pulling that tooth here= $1,400 w/ a 2 week wait.
Mex=$75 and $40 for meds w/ the most gentle care I've ever had and on Christmas day!
And they have to pass the same bar as here in the states.
If you don't have dental ins. ( like many of us) I totally recommend it.
And I'm the biggest baby there is when it comes to dental work!LOL

I had two root canals, 5 crowns, two fillings, and some cleaning done...All in one six hour visit. I went to Gray and Williams by Grossmont Hospital and they gave me a little concoction that knocked me out. I went to sleep and woke up with a new mouth full of fixed teeth. All for the small, small price of $9,000. What a bargain!

I got a bunch of "dental work" done right before the insurance ran out from my folks about 12 yrs ago. They basically stuck a hook in my mouth and anything it caught on got the drill and fill. The ins. ran out before they completed the job so I ended up with3 rows of metal teeth and one "cavity ridden" row. 12 years later, I havent gotten a single cavity in the row that had no "treatment", meanwhile I've broken a tooth, had fillings come out... nothing but problems in the other 3. I want a couple hours alone with that quack nazi tooth chiseler and a dentist drill. He must've gotten paid by the cavity.
I'll go to TJ every time now

I thought they had to go to school longer, or something like that
My people at "Center for oral and facial surgery" have more degrees than the wall will hold
it's funny seeing the diploma's sitting on the floor in a pile

Thanks Davocean, where were you 3 months ago when I starting forking this money out!!

I had a friend go to TJ and get a tooth implant, he looks like a chiclet is stuck in his face...that made me decide to go here

We clean "Center for oral facial" tank for YEARS now, they charged me FULL price, I gave the guy upstairs a tip on his nem's health issue, he gave me 70% off:)

Sorry dude, wish I had known.
Most think I'm nuts for going to Mex for dental, and I don't recommend going where it's like someone working out of their house, but there is a big medical building w/ oral surgeons and such that have to pass the same bar as here.
Very clean w/ modern equipment.
I just walk across and hand their business card to a taxi, and when they're done, go downstairs for meds, taxi back to border, no sweat.
I do admit though, I was pretty nervous the first time, but the pain was unbearable.
I was so thankful afterwards I even walked into a Mexican church for Christmas service just to give thanks!

Oral surgeons have both medical & dental degrees. They rotate with medical residents during their training. They are the only dental specialists with dual degrees. Other dental specialist such as orthodontist, periodontist, endodontist, etc...only either has a DDS or DMD degree.

It is not called a "bar." Law students must past bar exams. Dental, medical, or pharmacy must pass "board" exams.

Most Mexican dentist don't take our State Board Exams.

Maybe, you mean the National Boards which is not nearly as difficult and they have no Practical.
