How about setting up a rating system? This has been talked about so many times now and it's time to get it going. :)

Here's a link to a nice implementation:

I like that idea. Some other sites also employ the eBay user method, where you can at least check someone's eBay feedback (if they have any) before doing transactions with them.

You have to have a safety method in place and more than just the rateing or it can be abused. Wouldnt be good if you could spam neg feedback or ruin someone. There is another one out there that uses a pos neg etc like what you show and it uses a stature system based on posting and help with others etc etc. There is a time limit to add more feedback from each user and the one getting the rep points can dispute it.There is an add on we did to expand it to more the a plus or a minus has to do with keywords and responding to posts in a helpfull manor. The mod itself was Dl able like Vbullitin and than alot of code was added by us to make it safer more engageing and expansive.Anyone with knowledge of basic code can modify that one to almost anything. It can also be set to private. I personally use that one only to give bonus features on the board and more privilages and the like, instead of haveing to purchase them with a subscription. It has worked very well to eliminate all spammers, bad or trouble makers and gives everyone something to look forward to.I just like the notes I get with the rep point, like a "Hey thanks so much for the help on --- you saved my marrige lol. And graphics can be added to make it even more fun. Even if you dont get the positive rep points you can still move up through the stature system on the boards. The final end game is god mode !! so far so good. We are always haveing to tweak it though as we find things that make the system fun and engageing. Kind of eliminated what I used to have to do. I may even be bumped Im on the same system!!
I have offered in the past here when Moore was asking for help on the boards and got no response. Im sure hes working on something.Im not worried he just didnt need my help got it covered I guess :)

Thats what I was worried about to but not one complaint. I only see positive lol.The only ones I think the members have kicked was the porn spammers lol Takes either someone with high stature on the boards or high rep to do it alone so it was a combination of many members voting them down.
Hopefully it will continue to be a love fest lol :)

DRAMA You think there drama here where i want to see come on fellows you know what will happen if you put a rating system here 1/3 of the member here will be on the negative side let be realistic if you want to put such kind of rating it will have to be a new site

I would hope that it would keep people from flaking. But you're probably right, human nature will just make it a negative instead of positive thing.

Just my opinion, but I really think that the rating system is a fantastic idea. It works for eBay and many other self-governing sites.

And as far as it turning into a bash fest, since that happens already (and the bashers are on my black list as equally as the people who are flakes), I think we members can use it and take the information with a grain of salt and not take the rants of flaming lunatics to heart. Of course, no disrespect intended to the bashers, flaming lunatics or the flakes.

My rationale....After dealing with 5 absolutely terrific people from the forum this week, and one total loser, I have to say I would have appreciated a heads-up on this person. Albeit, after the fact, I have heard I am not the only person who has had problems with the same person. So this would have helped save me a headache, the cost of 3 mojitos with a friend to get rid of said headache, wasting 4 days listening to this person's excuses, upsetting my family schedule twice to accommodate this person's schedule, upsetting my work schedule once to accommodate same said person's schedule, and passing on other great deals from more responsible reefers on this forum for the same item, as I had felt obligated to make the deal because I said I would, and because "I" did not want to back out and be the flake.

And I know a minute after I hit the "submit reply" button, I am going to start hearing from all of you who know me, so will just answer with yes.
Yes, I never post.
Yes, I am of few words on the forum.
Yes, a post by me, much less this amount of writing must mean I am passionate about this subject matter. Yes, yes, yes!

(And no, that was not a Harry Met Sally moment!)

All hail the rating system!! Bring it on!

I would agree with Chelle. If you take a minute to think about it, sdreef members are posting their addresses and phone numbers to people they dont even know. By my book that is very trusting. If there was some way to find out in advance if other members have had problems with certain people, action could be taken to avoid such "headaches". Maybe if the administrators can identifiy problem people they can remove them from the forum.

I agree with Chelle. A rating system seems appropriate! I wish this site did polls. We could just find out what everyone thinks.
OBTW.... I am one of those trusting people who has posted their phone number here..... I guess I just believe that people are inherently good.

This is an excellent idea and should definately be implemented on this forum.

Those of you who use Ebay know exactly how the 100% feedback works. If you don't want to deal(buy/sell) with an individual then that's definately up to you. Their feedback reflects on them and it's your choice whether or not to make a deal.

BTW I've been an Ebay member for 7+ and have 100% feedback.:)

So... Can I leave Chelle a negative rating for getting to all the good stuff before I do?

That counts, right? RIGHT?

I am totally on board for this. There are a couple of people who have been just great to trade with and I want to give them high marks for being soooo cool. On the otherhand, I'm really frustrated with a couple of flakes I've dealt with recently.:p

Something about that makes me uncomfortable. Its almost like talking behind someone's back. I mean, what if the guy was just having a bad day or went flakey after a fight with his wife or something. You never know why people turn out to be flakes. If many people sent you the same user name, that would suggest something... but I'd feel really bad sending you usernames. If you were buying coral, I'd tell you who I've gotten unhealthy livestock from...but I don't want to cause someone to be ostracized from the forum. That would be sad, people do change.

This is why we need a rating system.

Flakes will be flakes, People who had a bad day or a situation would leave a message or an apology, Nuff said, this board needs a rating system. One of the main reasons why I stopped checking in and doing business on here. I asked because allot of PM's I've been getting are from users I have never seen before and don't know Flake "A" from Flake "B".

:D What about flake C? *lol* In the meantime... until the rating system gets going, let's show appreciation for people who do good transactions by posting to their thread after the deal to say thanks for a smooth transaction. Positive reinforcement....
