My 29g, acouple months later

Due to my lack of RODI, and no grazers, I have abit of algae
Want to change my lights to t5's, this single 150w hqi is'nt making me very happy

those white corals are from Impreza619, white monti, purple polyp, not dead:)
(everyone tells me to pull the deadies out)

Nice setup Scott.. I see the Hydno on top that guy is still as hairy as when it was in my tank! I love that monti as your center piece.

I don't like it cause the output of a single centered 150w HQI is rather weak overall, I have maybe 20-30% of my tank with good light

Not getting that great of growth, birdsnest grew faster in my "tidepool" tank, than under this light
Colors seem to fade, I lose all my nice blue and purple colors
I was thinking a 6 bulb t5 from Custom Aquatic (Not sure on brand, but has individual reflectors) or a 250w HQI or 175w Aqua2 (waiting on the call from CA)

problem is, this is a 29g glass tank (30") not many companies make a 30" fixture, I can't hang a light from my popcorn ceiling in my apartment, and don't have a hood (currently)

yeah, but would create alot of heat, and cost more to operate than the t5, which is why I'm leaning that way

the initial cost would be more, I would need a hood and retro's

was your 250 a fixture or pendant?

sunpod pro makes a 30 inch. but its expensive, and the heat.... Iwas thinking about that for my 29 since I dont have a hood either. Undecided still

I have the regular sunpod 150

I have a chiller, but don't want to run it 24/7 cause of a 250

I'm gonna save for the t5's and pray someone upgrades and sells their hood with t5's

but as you can tell, not much growth with this 150w and just 2 9wt5's

I believe they have 24" in which case you offset them - I can show you on my tank where I have 48" offset inside the canopy. I am showing someone else tomorrow you are more than welcome to check it out as well. Just send me a PM

I have 2 24" t5's on the tank, sorta filling in the shadows abit, but they are in a fixture, w/ a single reflector (corallife crap)
