OMGOMGOMG!!!!!11ONE

It’s LAN time

Ok, here’s the deal….Starting Friday, September 3rd, and running till….well, who the hell knows when, but for most, it’s a 3 day weekend, so lets say Sunday, my house will be totally vacant from children, and mostly vacant of the wife, other than when she comes home in a drunken stupor, and hopefully passes out.

Starting at around 5pm, I will be breaking down my house of furniture (except the really heavy stuff of course) and making room for ub3r l33t computer nerds alike. I expect to have enough room for about 12 desks, but if we all put our heads together, we can make some room by knocking down a wall, taking over my neighbors house, or something.

Ok, the details:

Who: Who the hell knows. Some of you I may have never met, but oh well.
What: LAN party, Drinking, Beer, Booze, LAN party, MP3 sharing, porn…errr, nm..
Where: Mah House. PM me for directions, or email me @ Dchap1977@yahoo.com
Why: If you need a reason, not really a LAN party kind of guy, but hey, you can show up and get drunk at least.
When: Initial plan is Friday, September 3rd starting around 5pm for setup, through the 6th (assuming we don’t die to lack of sleep, or alcohol poisoning). If The 11th works better for most people, we can switch it, but I’d rather go with the 3rd. Lemme know.
How: By the power of booze and geekdome, Show up with your computer, a friends computer, steal your parents and throw in a new video card, who knows, just bring one. If you have 2, bring em both. I’m sure someone’s will crash or someone will show up that wants to play.

Things needed – Important – Read Me

- Hubs, switches and whatnot. Cant LAN without em, so bring them if you have them.

- Cat 5 cables. I have several very long ones, but bring what you have.

- USB cables in case you have a USB connection you can use. USB is easier, so hey, go for it.

- Network card. I have a couple old ones, but it’s easier if you already have a working one.

- Hard drive space. Nuff said. Lots of MP3’s to share, probably a few games your going to have to load up.

- Mouse, keyboard, monitor, desk, speakers, chairs. Speakers are very much encouraged. The more noise, the better. Oh, I have a few..things that work as desks, but it’s better if you can bring a fold up or something. If you have a favorite chair, bring it. I do have some chairs for those with cars that cant bring them.

- Games – Doom 3, Quake 3 (bring your mods), Halflife, UT, what am I forgetting? I’m thinking mainly FPS, but everyone is usually open to new games.

So, if you want to show up for the duration, more power to ya. I have some room, but if you wanna crash, bring a pillow and yer blankie, cuz I don’t wanna clean the blankets up after you guys have slept in them…If you wanna show up for one night, a few hours, 10 minutes, you gotta waste time going to work on a Saturday (sucks to be you), you can setup and leave your computer, or not. Whatever works.

I’d prefer if your drinking, you crash, but your all big kids. I’ll give up my nice king size bed for anyone who is to intoxicated to drive, but not without a fight. I like my bed. I have another bed that can be used, and lots of floor space. My daughter’s bed is out of the question…Unless you’re a girl, but I doubt that. Oh, and if more than 1 person thinks your to intoxicated to drive, pending they’re not drunker than you, your staying or getting someone else to drive you. No DUI’s, no one gets in an accident, no one dies.

Ok, what am I forgetting? Food….Guess we should maybe eat here and there. I’m planning on having a 2 day diet of redbull, vodka and corona, but hey, to each his own. Bring some snacks, bring some hot pockets, hell, bring some ribs. I got a 55 gallon BBQ we can cook those bad boys up on.

I voted yes of course.

I will bring my laptop and my desktop.

I will bring red meat to burn spices in.

I will bring a wireless router probably (less cords to trip over = good).

And maybe a few extras.

Oh and I will have blank DVD-Rs and stuff to burn with for those that need copies of the games we are playing.

Hah, oh c'mon... Duke Nukem 3D man, so much better than Duke Nukem original or DN2. But now that you mention it, Oregon Trail would be pretty sweet.... hah

Epox 8K3A+ VIA KT333 Chipset
Athlon XP 2000+
512MB Corsair RAM
GeForce3 Video Card
Sound Blaster Live! 5.1
120GB Western Digital 8MB Cache

Is all that enough to run the newer FPS games? I doubt Doom3 would play very well, but this setup is the best I've got at the moment.

ok, sonofa*****, here's the deal. I forgot about the projekt revolution tour on the 3rd sooooo, either we can switch to just saturday/sunday, possibly monday, or next weekend.

Who votes for the same weekend, who votes the next weekend? I'm down either way. We can setup early saturday, and go all day, all night, all day sunday. Or just swap to the 11th, 5pm'ish.

Should be ok on Doom 3, it'll run, but turn down the graphics. All the rest should run just fine.

Ok, so the current plan is this

READ ME

Saturday morning, setup and install's, We'll be setup by noon, feel free to come over earlier, later, during, whatever.

If anyone feel really inclined, they can come friday night and hang till My cuz and I get home from the Korn concert (midnight'ish). There will be other people here setting up and probably playing, but possibly only a few. We'll probably be seriously smashed, so yea. It's up to you. We'll be here.

Saturday and Saturday NIGHT is the current plan. We can BBQ whatever we feel like, whenever we feel like. Lets roll in to Sunday, most of the day, and into Monday for those who are hardcore. I'm not working, so I'll be here.

OMG, if the last choice in the poll gets higher than any other one, people are going to die!

Ok, so Dawn of War beta is a definate. That game is pretty sweet. Download it from Gamespy.com and get your beta CD key. It's a cool game.

Doom 3 will install, but we need to work out details when everyone shows up. Basically, we can use it for the LAN, but not online. You can play single player all you want. We need to add a few "programs" to make it work on everyones computer. So, dont buy it if you haven't yet. Come play it and see how it runs, and if you like it. It's badass BTW. Pretty freaky for a game, and good graphics...Even on a Geforce 4 4200 TI. Runs great.

Quake 3-Forget what the current patch is, but check ID.com and get the current patch, and bring your models, and mods.

Halflife. It rules, so get it now if you can, if not, lots of us have copies.

UT - Another awesome game for LAN. Get it. If you dont, we have copies.

Starcraft - Not sure we'll play, but we can try.

Warcraft - Wouldn't mind playing a few rounds, so we'll see what's up when everyone gets here.

Lemme know if anyone else has suggestions for games.

Oh, BEER/BOOZE - Bring whatever. I prefer corona's, but that's just me. I'm planning on needing some cheap beer for flaming Dr. Peppers. We will need some Amareto, as i'm getting a little low. If anyone wants to stop by and get a bottle of the cheaper Amareto, please do. They are hella good, trust me. We can use Everclear for the Flaming part. it's FUN FUN FUN to drink..... As long as we dont burn down my house.

Ok, for those interested in coming over, please PM me for address and Phone number. Keg is coming a little after noon, 5 gallons of Sierra Nevada. We'll need ice, so If anyone is inclined, please bring some.

Other than that, bring yer fold up tables and chairs, I have some tables and chairs, but not much, and they're not the best chairs in the world.
