heres my weekend project, I built the stands out of 2" square tubing 1.20 wall. They are 40" tall (makes the tanks @ good veiwing level)

I have not installed the plumbing yet but I still need to paint the stands.

this is a long running project for me, I hope to be finished in about 1mo.

The tanks will be FW breeders for my many cichlids and I will have another smaller system for SW.

Tanks are 8'L X 24"W X 12"T for a total water volume of 120g ea, with the filteration I am using total system capicity will be about 450g :D

feel free to give any feedback

BIG THANKS TO HAROLD @ FRAGS CITY FOR THE TANKS!!!

I have been using about 8-12 tanks right now and the cost is not very good ;)

with 1 huge system I can grow out the fry to about 3" and get way more $ than when they are 1-2"

right now I am forced to "move" fish to get more room, I have about 450-500 fry right now with another 200 or so on the way!

Well after a while I just stop wasting my time dropping by there. So it was OG and AW and I skipped Brillaint. Also I been busy working so I have not had as much time to follow the forums. Oh well:D

what is the tank volume of each cubicle? I\'m also setting up a breeding system, but I\'m doing African Shell Dwellers. They appear to be 12\" cubes? Seems small for breeding those fish, or are you using these only for grow out? What did you pay if you don\'t mind me asking? Maybe one day I can swing by and checkout your setup. I\'m always interested in others systems. David M. has a sweet setup (had?)

Pearly zebras are cool...have you ever tried tropheus? I was thinking about doing another FW tank with some tropheus, but they are getting a bit expensive at the LFS. I used to be able to get tropheus duboisi juvies for $3.

the stands on the tanks....are you going to add some cross bars or something? because the way you have em now, it looks like it would be easy to tip/break the whole thing if someone leaned on one of the sides or the whole thing wabbled in an earth quake.

they are very secure,

...while empty.

When you fill them up with water that stand will be a lot less stable.

I have an ikea computer desk with the same design as your stand....without wieght it looked pretty stable. I put a 60lb monitor on it, and the thing wobbled like crazy.

unlike an Ikea desk, each stand weighs about 115lbs and is constructed out of mild steel (not sheet metal). I have had water in the tanks for 5 days now and believe me they are SOLID :D

I made adjustable feet for all the legs so that I could make the tanks & stands level, not to mention that they are on a concrete floor which is about as solic as you can get ;)

You have to come by Stan, I am on the NCRMAS tank tour, and will also be having a BBQ for all who want to eat after the tank tour

Mabye we could even have some sort of a frag swap?

I will try and post a few better pics of the system up and running (I will get a good shot of the stands for you stan :D)
