Yeah, that price tag kinda hurts. $499 for the 4gig and $599 for the 8gig. Welp, might as well pony up the extra $100 for 2x the space. Nice ploy apple, lol!

i actually don't think the price is too unreasonable... it's an iPod (+$249), a PDA (+$200-300), mini-entertainment center, and a mobile phone all rolled into one.

it's a pretty impressive combination, and the way they put it all together seems to present very well.

what i'm worried about is the battery. w/the way apple's reputation is w/batteries i don't see this phone lasting over 1-2 years of use... and probably by the end of those 1-2 years it will only be able to pull off 3-4 hours of standby time.

Most of the time with apple is best to wait for the 2nd generation. Though I bet this is going to be one of the must have items this year.

I think I'm gonna wait for the 2nd generation -which will hopefully be a bit smaller and have a full blown GPS navigation suite like Tom Tom/ Garvin devices.

But damn, will be nice to only one device rather than the whole pocket full. Maybe I'll be able to get over the fact that I hate candy bar phones.

This thing looks like the first nano... meaning it will scratch incredibly easly unless you put a cover on it that makes it twice as thick.

Not me...I'll drop it and have to go out and kill myself from despair. The day after I got my RAZR phone, $299, I went to flip it open to answer it while I was driving down the freeway and flipped it right out the window. Talk about feeling stupid!

Oh Damn... ROFLMAO... ok now that I've stopped laughing uncontrollably, did you buy the insurance on it?

Insurance requires you to send them the pieces of what's left. I'm sure it got bashed in pretty good by passing cars. Besides then I would have to tell them what I did.:o

Apple also changed its name from Apple Computers to Apple Inc. It is also currently being sued by Cisco for trademark infringement.

There is alot to be said for waiting until the bugs get worked out and costs come down. Kind of like plasma TVs. Three years ago my company was paying $12,000 for 42" plasmas that the average Joe can now get for $1,000.

Heh.... Just bought my (verizon branded) Samsung i730, spent several hours hacking it and now it's on cricket. Unlimited calls, unlimited text, unlimited data for $50 a month! :D :D :D
This phone is SICK!!!
I've got a built in IR codes for several brands of equipment... In other words, my phone is a universal remote control. :p
