wow nice stand! jealous of ur skills

about the chopping of the top off...
why "cut" the tank when you can just add extra trim (1-2'' on both top and bottom) to get your wide-look? i'm sure you can pull that off w/a canopy... i hope that makes sense. probably easier to make a canopy to conceal a tank rather than cutting the top off of an already nice tank.

more pics of the stand! i want to how you made it

You're right and I'm thinking about doing that because the stand is 39" tall and the canopy will have to be proprtionatly tall also, so I may just sink the tank 4-5" into the canopy. Not sure yet, gotta get the tank on the stand and have a looksee.
I also have trick plans for the canopy that may not allow this. we'll see.
Thanks for the compliments.

Rudy, why don't you just sink it 4-5" into your stand and have a 6" sand bed? Might be a bit late seeing as you already did most of your stand but it's still a thought. You could have some really nice jawfish colonies in that thing then. Anyways, great job on the stand it looks awesome.
