since everyone is talking blues i thought i would post mine. chocolate fringes with blue 'tinge' inside. 10000k 250w MH, which has a tendency to wash everything out in my tank. but i like this piece a lot because of the contrast it throws to everything around it. the piece is quite large. about 6X3

19.99 at jeff's. my only regret is not buying the other one that was there.

Lets see a full tank shot. Havnt seen your tank since it was setup. Nice Zoos. Would you be interested in trading for a frag of those?

sure jerome. i am going to put small rocks all around it so its easy to frag. stuff grows like crazy in my tank, particularly the zoos.

i am always hesitant to post pics because i take terrible tank pictures. they just never look right.

Can you stand back and just take a full shot of the tank? All these pictures and I still can't picture what your tank looks like. :(

as you can see, its very much a work in progress. nothing special in it at all, just 'simple softies', which i very much prefer. just a very simple ric/shroom/zoo tank.

i dont like the look of too 'busy' of a tank, or a tank that looks like a coral collectors tank, stuff just stuck everywhere. i like a LOT of a few things.

notice no mechanical items at all in the tank. no 'machines allowed.

amazingly i never had an algae bloom of any type, not even diatoms. but i am sure it is coming.

and i have at least 5-7 different corraline colors in there. from green to turquoise and all the blues/purples in between.

again, sorry for the poor pictures. one day when i am ready i hope to bribe acoustic into taking my pictures.

sorry, here it is. its in the garage with one 250w hqi MH in a custom made reflector. i cant decide to make another reflector for another 250w (i already have the bulb and clip) or put a 95w powerquad on each side. while each end is dark it does not seem to hurt anything.

nalbar, have you tried raising the light a few inches?

Id hook up another light. YOur tank is 48" wide right? 2 would be ideal.

Its lookin good though.

yes krisp i have. it helps on the lighting but what happens is the splash from the fixture interfers with viewing up close. my wife and i like to go out and view the creatures quite close to the tank every night. up just a inch and you get the light right in the eyes.

more than likely i will go with another 250w. but i am curious on how a simple duel 50/50 would look. 17 inches long turned sidewise (front to back).

and here is my nano.

my poor baby is stripped out because lots went into the 80g.

are all these tanks out in the garage? I would think youd be battling heat all day long, do you run a chiller?

the nano is in my den. no problem there because i have air conditioning and a wife who is not afraid to use it. when we put the new air conditioner in she insisted on one rated for 1200 square feet larger than our house. many is the time i have to wear long sleeves in the house to keep from freezing my a@# off.

house NEVER gets above 75 or she freaks out.

my garage gets warm but my tank stays at 78-80. i open the garage door to cool it down. dont forget, i live in o'side and get a GREAT ocean breeze. once the door gets opened the garage cools right down.

what i have noticed on larger tanks is the rock acts like a heat sink. it takes a LONG time to move the water much.

i even have 65 pounds of rock curing outside right now. IN THE SUN in the morning. water is at 82 right now. drops to 79 at night. it has no heater.
