The play was dead and Big Igor has been injured too often lately so I don't blame him for defending himself. It really didn't look that bad, but in the world of football it was a stupid, costly, and totally unnecessary mistake. I think it was just a knee jerk reaction on Igor's behalf.

Huge Huge win and my Denver buddy won't even talk to me right now. Now Denver has to play KC on Thursday, not even 4 days rest from us, and KC is on a roll. We need to root for KC badly and then we need to kick the bejesus outta Oakland, KC and Denver all AT HOME! Awesome! 6 games left and anything can happen, but the Colts losing to the Kowboys was huge, still a tough race in the AFC to the big game. It ain't over, but we cleared a huge hurdle yesterday.

The Donks are KNOWN to pull that kind of crap. I'm sure Rat Face Shanahan told Nalen to go for Igor's knees (Isn't it fitting that their OL is not "allowed" to talk to the media?). I'm surprised more Bolts weren't hurt during this game.

Denver does play dirty with all their 'chop blocking'. I'm very happy LT got out of the game without being injured. I think Denver has ranked up more career ending injuries due to that block alone than any other team.

Roger
11-20-2006, 11:36 AM
I'd like to see the cutblock get banned and see how the *******es hold up in their running game. Jamal Williams was injuured by that same block a few years back that cost him the season. To my understanding cutblocks are different than chopblocks are they not?

Phischy
11-20-2006, 11:43 AM
I'm not 100% sure, the ones I'm talking about are throwing yourself at the opponents knees. Those boys aren't small and a 250lbs guy crashing your knees tends to lead to season or career ending injuries. Dirty *******s.

Rushdog86
11-20-2006, 12:10 PM
try like 350 lbs. they are massive but yea it was a stupid play but those blocking techniques are very usefull in the game we love so much. that would be like telling baseball to stop allowing runners to take out catchers coming home. anyway there is a less harmful way of doing it for sure, but i think he got chopped on the spike ball right? in that case it was uncalled for and stupid.

GoTakuF1
11-20-2006, 01:49 PM
Your post is contradictory and makes no sense. I like a good "Jacked-up" hit as much as the next guy but when you try to put your opponent out of the season then you're not really playing.

And by the way, Nalen is getting fined by the NFL for going after Igor's knees.

Phischy
11-20-2006, 02:45 PM
Good, he deserves it. Igor shouldn't have swung and hit the guy, but Nalen going for the knees after the spike when he knew what the play was, is just a show of how dirty Denver is.

Rushdog86
11-20-2006, 03:46 PM
i assume your talking to me. all im saying is i learned that block in high school its completely legal. however there are times to use it and times not to. also how you do it as well. these defensive players no whats up, and know generally how to protect themselves. its in situations mostly that when players get hurt its intentional or through frustration and like this case even after a play let alone a spiked ball.

GoTakuF1
11-21-2006, 06:11 PM
Is it legal? Yes. Is it dirty? Yes. In any case, the NFL fined Nalen $25,000.00 and Igor $10,000.00. It seems like they don't like seeing defensive linemen get taken out for the season either.

Chicago Bears are a good team, it's just that SD is better. Like what was said in the previous post, preseason means absolutely nothing. The Bears do have a good defense, but not good enough for the Bolts' offense. The Bears offense plays well against weak defenses. But the Bolts should have all of their starters going into the playoffs and if they meet in The Big Game SD will have the advantage because they score points. Bottom line the Bears playing their best is not enough to beat the Bolts at their best! HA

You still have to remember that Rivers is a rookie, and this is his first season as a starter. The potential for him to become even better and have the maturity and poise to lead the team through the heart of darkness is there, and will only grow with expierence.

The problem is the AFC is a real beast. We've pretty much taken the AFC west by watching both Denver and KC implode on themselves. What we need to do is to finish out the season and let the Colts lose to another AFC so we can jump and take home advantage.

Even then we're going to have a really tough post season. Colts, Pats and Raves (?) all await. The AFC playoffs are going to be more exciting than whatever team gets shat out the NFC.

Do the chargers have the potential? Yes. Will they go the distance...who knows...any given sunday (the Colts can lose to the Flaming Thumb Tacks).

Right now I just want them to focus on Sunday and beat the Bronco's 1 more time!

Yup, watching them implode has been fun, I'd hate to be Cutler...a rook brought in at the ass end of a season and put playoff hopes on his shoulders. Ouch. And for Denver no less, those people have no loyalty, they expect instant greatness. Although we did cut Brees...but you gotta figure Shotty always liked Rivers so it was going to happen at one point or another.

From what I remember hearing (and it makes sense to me) is that the coach always wanted Brees, and didn't want to cut him. Brees was not drafted by current management, management drafted and liked Rivers. And since in their own opinion 'management' wouldn't get 'credit' if Brees took the Chargers all the way, Brees had to go. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Brees, LT, Rivers, etc. are all drafted by the 'management' and in this case, the best G.M. in football right now. A.J. Smith.

Brees, LT, Rivers, etc. are all drafted by the 'management' and in this case, the best G.M. in football right now. A.J. Smith.

Ok, so you made me go look it up. A.J. Smith took over in 2004. Brees was drafted in 2001. A.J. Smith's very first ever draft pick was P. Rivers (via Eli Manning). A.J. Smith did not draft Brees.

This was just the first article google gave me, of many that I remember reading that back me up...
http://www.nctimes.com/articles/2006/02/27/sports/scholfield/22606184015.txt
... don't you remember reading these?

I don't disagree that A.J. Smith has done a great job, but the fact remains that he very likely ran Brees out of town. A.J. Smith gets more credit if they win with Rivers, and it's working, because you gave it to him! I hope the Chargers go all the way this year, but if they do, let us not totally rewrite history for it. Smith didn't draft LT or Brees. Smith didn't draft/sign Gates, and remember when Gates missed the beginning of last season because of Smith playing hardball? I hope Gates doesn't remember it either, I hope he re-signs and spends his whole career with the Chargers.

Again, I don't deny Smith is great on draft day, his picks have been phenominal, but let's not give him credit for the sun rising. He definitely has an ego, hopefully it doesn't get in the way of the rest of his job.

i am not a jinx in fact i lived in chicago when the 85 bears won the superbowl
also i lived there when the bulls won several championships in a row then i moved to california when phil jackson went to the lakers and the lakers won
see a pattern??? where ever i live is the team that wins ....go chargers!!!

Well, moving to California the year one California team wins a championship is not much of a coincidence. I think I lived on the east coast once when the NJ Devils won the cup. :D

was just about to say that they shouldnt look at us too much when the bears D is the only thing saving them. Grossman is overrated.

I still think a Bolts v. Saints game would be better. Bolts v. Bears would be a defensive game.

With all the hype about Ex Chargers Quarterback Brees leaving San Diego and Rivers filling his shoes it would make for a great match up and a good Superbowl.. Almost something straight out of a movie

Not just that drama, but the Saints actually are a more exciting team to watch than the Bears. Only time I look at the Bears game is to see if Hester ran another one in. Other than the Bears D, they ain't ****. I like SD v. NO in the SB. 619 homes

Well, we still have to get past the Raven's to get to the Big Dance, they're on fire and River's is having QB issues at the moment. That'll probably be the most exciting game in the post season. LT can blow through the Colts and Pats, but it's the Ravens that are going to give us a big headache...and they already beat us once...

Yeah I'm kinda worried about that game as well.. Is the schedule out yet for the playoffs?? How many wildcard teams are in???

Phischy
12-26-2006, 10:17 AM
I'm not sure it's scheduled, but as it stands, the Bolts/Ravens are the two strongest teams in the AFC so barring an upset...the teams shall meet at one point. It'll make for a great game though.

as long as we play baltimore here then were straight. if we play them there which might of happened had we lost that game, then we would have some serious problems. I think we already have homefield, if we have to beat the cardinals at home its not a big deal but getting homefield throughout definately is huge. rivers pull yourself together man! have you guys noticed everyone in the league has messed up down the last stretch and lost big and not so big games. im very pumped we havent!

Right. The Chargers currently have homefield. But if they lose AND Baltimore wins, the two teams will finish with identical records and the Ravens would get homefield (#1 seed) based on the tiebreaker of when they beat the Chargers earlier this year.

I wish I was going, I won't even get a chance to watch it! And against the Pats, going to be a very tough game.

BTW, the 12th Man was here for the Holiday Bowl, not that it did the Aggies any good.

It's a long story, but no, I don' thave cable or even bunny ears at home. I'm very anti-TV and advertising. Yes I'm strange.

I should be able to listen to it on the radio. Actually, looking at the s chedule, I may be able to catch the first 1:45 of the game.

History repeats itself. Smith's ego runs Marty out of town. I don't necessarily disagree with the move, but I very strongly disagree with the timing. Talk about closing the barn doors after the horse has bolted. Instead of promoting one of our excellent coordinators, now they are all gone. Once they left, all that getting rid of Marty would do would be to hurt continuity.

Good article here:
http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/6468762
Best quote: "Heck, all the new guy has to do is win a playoff game and Smith can gloat, "See, I told you so!""
The chargers were one of the favorites (according to Vegas oddsmakers) to win the superbowl next year, that was with Marty. Everyone thought the Chargers would do well next year regardless, this was a move of ego & greed, to try to take 100% of the credit instead of settling for shared credit. This was definitely the move of someone more concerned with his own rep than the overall outcome. Win-win for him I guess, either the Chargers do well (and he could take credit for getting rid of Marty, or his players carrying the rookie coach, or more likely both) and if the Chargers don't do well it's because of that new coach

For you non-football fans, this is like Bush coming out in favor of stem cell research a week before some university announces a cure, or betting on a race at Del Mar after it has already started.
