Will a Dual 175 Metal Halide work on my 150g tank or do i have to get the 250w. Can i get away with the 175w?

I am sure you can use it, just depend on what you plan to keep.

also depends on your dimensions... it might need to be close to the water if your keeping sps

I read somewhere recently that say 150 w over a 20g makes no difference to say over a 50g, it's still only 150 watts. It's the intensity of the light that's a real factor. Just like 250w SE bulbs are less intense then say a 250w DE bulb. So I'd say just go with 250 watts, DE if you can. You'll be happy that you did.. that way you would'nt have to upgrade later because lack of lighting, IMO.

yea, the mh bulbs have an approx 24" foot print from what i understand, so Depending on your tank specs you to pic the number of bulbs to get the coverage your looking for. Plus depending on what you want to keep. I choose to go with 175w because I don't plan on keeping SPS, but I do want lighting for my Clams and my anenomes.
