Do basset hounds really stink? I thought I heard that somewhere...

yes they stink really bad.

She is an alright dog though. Her name is Joplin and she is a lemon and white basset hound. She was born in sylvania georgia, moved to orlando, lived on cocoa beach, then to austin tx and now resides in sd. All of that in under two years, pretty traveled pup.

but yeah she stinks and still isn't 100% house trained. I have gotten a little sick of her lately but I won't abandon my friend

I think you can remedy the smell of the basset hounds by keeping their ears really clean, no?

oh yeah cleaning the ears helps. If I don't she gets really bad infections too. I have been keeping them clean and trying to give her baths more often but I can't do it too often cause she is a white dog and their skin is more sensitive.

hahaha i have 2 bassetts at my moms house, well 1 now :( and she sure does stink!! LOL i think there fur is just more oily for some reason and she likes to roll alot. have you ever heard of addisons disease in bassetts?

yeah she likes to roll and be under the covers. That her new thing she has to be under the covers even if you are just sitting on the couch.
