Nice tank. What is your ultimate goal with this tank? You're taking a risk with corals with that trigger in there. I've seen tanks with nigers in them though. It depends on temperment, feeding habits & other fish you have in the tank. So what's inside the stand? Lighting? Best of Luck

thanks...our goals witht he tank is basically just the basic reek tank with 5 or 6 fish...and ys i know were at rish putting the corals in there with him; but we'll see how it works out...the tank is basically just running on an emperor filter and a skimmer with 320watt PC lights...the guy we got it from only had th skimmer with it and it was fine but we added the filter and it is perfect; but, soon we'll upgrade and get some more equipment to improve the tank...

Looks good.. I would take off the HOB filter and add a powerhead or 2.. HOB is a nitrate magnet so it would be better on a FO tank then a Reef.. Most run the HOB and Canister filters just for carbon good luck..

I have a small niger trigger in my reef tank, and he has not been a problem. I have lots of snails, hermits, shrimp, sps, lps, zoos, rics, etc..... He was a little aggressive to a small pair of clowns i introduced but they are fine now. With that said.... when niger triggers become mature large adults the tendancy to pick at stuff will greatly increase.

Marco

Wouldnt he be better off with less of a sandbed....i mean he could get away with half of what hes got in there.....more water space...im guessin tho.

Looking good. Have you considered putting a background on the back of the tank? You can get cheap backing at Petco or Petsmart that is blue, black, or various pictures of aquarium aquascaping. Keep a close eye on the scallop. They are filter feeders and non-photosynthetic. Without enough food they die and could polute the tank.

Has anyone ever took their tank to an airbrush artist before ? Like to make a cool mural with whales or sharks or a giant reef , something like that ?

cagirly2006

yeah were going to get a background for it, a black one, we just have just been buying other stuff for it lately...but yeah about that scallop, it died the first night we got it, so idk what happened...we had bio plankton in there, i even put the bip plankton in before the scallop...so idk what happened...

cool painting!

About the scallop they are very sensitive to water perams especialy nitrates which are a common factor in a new tank.

How often are you checking the water? Whats the perams?

Tank is lookin good! Keep it up! :)

Hey sdfishman, why is a HOB filter considered a nitrate magnet?
