I have an Apogee 510 par meter that I'm willing to rent out to SDR members. This is the meter that is designed for all types of aquarium lighting including LEDs. BRS rents them for $50, I was thinking $30 or possible sps trade to measure your par levels. If you needed it for an extended period of time, I would have to require a deposit as the meter was very expensive. Of course if I know you, the deposit would be waved. I just want to protect my investment. Would anyone be interested?

You could always make house calls to do “PAR” checks for peeps. $30 a pop and no risk to your meter.

I think a PAR tour would be interesting.

What's a PAR tour? I knew you would ask. The meter and tour participants could travel to reef tanks on the tour and we could see and measure PAR levels in different tanks. That way participants might hope to calibrate our eyes to better estimate PAR under variable tanks depths and light sources. It might not work, it might not be possible to guess PAR this way, but maybe it could work?

Of course we'd have to pay Brandon his fee, and folks would have to offer up their tanks for viewing and measuring, and a day and time would have to be set, but that's just logistics.

Probably impossible in this day and age, but who knows? Ideas are free.

I like where your head's at. I would like to see a tank tour of established tanks in San Diego where we could test par and see what levels are working for them. I know a few tanks off the top of my head including the AW display tank I'd love to know par numbers on. I would be willing to do something like that for free or just the cost of gas.

I’d be interested to see my PAR on my 960g newly set up tank. 4x400w 14k halides and 3x165w blue leds.

This is a great idea! Wish I thought of it to fuel my sps addiction.

Brandon, thanks for coming by. Really appreciate the help in dialing in the frag tank and peace of mind for the main display.
Here’s my numbers running the aquatic life T5 fixture with Radion G4 pro at 60%:

No problem Tyler, it was nice to meet you. Would you mind posting your individual color channel settings as well? Might help someone out trying to program their Radion. Tank looks great, glad I could help you out.

Sure thing. I’m running all blues on the Radion, 3 three ATI blue plus, and one ATI coral plus bulb. I ran four of the blue plus bulbs prior but even with the Radion it was a bit too “windex” colored.
