Anyone into freshwater shrimps/planted tanks

Sup peeps been getting into freshwater shrimps the last couple of weeks...Anyone into shrimps??? Kinda going a little overboard with them but aquariums are addicting...I currently have 3 nano tanks running for shrimps.....a 3g with red and yellow neos...a fluval edge with orange Sakura shrimps,red crystal shrimp,chocolate shrimp?..and I'm setting up a 8g rimless for some red wine shrimps and a few other shrimps ..... would like to hear from people who had/have them..... Lets see your freshwater set ups !!!! I'll load mine when photobucket is not slow

My frogs and painted turtles want a sleep-over in your tank to eat some fresh foods, those are the only fresh water systems I have as I try and grow the turtles and tadpoles out. I am setting up another tank to try and breed some leopard frogs for my koi pond though but it will be pretty basic. I'm in the process of setting up a 5 gallon planted shrimp tank. I'm thinking blue dream or crystal red mix with crystal black. Any pointers would be appreciated.

Here's a pretty terrible time lapse. But it's the only way I can really get to see them.

I could wait no hurry I have guppys and tetras on my tank. Would that be a problem. I never kept fresh water shrimp. But I'm interested can pick some up after your trip.

I have lots of things in my big shrimp tank. Only things I keep in my expensive shrimp tanks are white cloud minnows. I don't risk it when trying to breed them. But the shrimp that are under 7 bucks I don't mind haha. Mean I know.

I would start with something easy. Cherry shrimp are fun and for me the easiest to take care of. My Cardinals are not .. NOT easy.. pain in the butt even with a well established system. I'm constantly making sure the parameters are to their liking. Little jerks hehe

For the most part you can use drinking water NOT RO .like mention above unless you get some rare or sensative shrimps you have to get the water to there liking......most fish WILL eat shrimps,especially the baby's cause there super tiny...I only keep keep shrimps no fish in my tanks ..... Some people use straight tap water in there shrimp tanks lol

Never thought about keeping shrimp as the focal point of a tank, but very cool, nice setups!

That black one is cool.... Looks like a King Kong but with white dots they aren't black .. more like a deep red almost purple. I'll try to get some better pictures tomorrow morning when they are more active.

My tanks are a et up to house both fish and shrimp with out worry of eggs/babies being eaten. I have my fine substrate layer on the bottom to keep my plants healthy, and some coarse rock on top. That way the babies have a place to hide and feed safely. I also have a ton of Tahiti moss. The back wall is a moss wall, and then I have a giant bundle in the center for them to hide out in also. Fish stay out of there.

I know they are "boring" color wise compared to other shrimp. But I have about 20 Amano shrimp in my 40g heavely planted tank. I can spend countless hours watching the little guys scury from plant to plant and swim across the tank.
