Hey everyone I'm from Santee and looking into a saltwater tank. I don't think I want to get into the corals and live rock stuff just yet mainly looking at a fish only tank for now. I'm leaning towards an aqueon 65 or the aqueon 45. Any suggestions on either one or a similar setup that's better? As far as fish I know I want a few clowns, and probably blue tang/s (I know, way to be different) as well as a puffer among a few others. Should I go sand or rock bottom? Anything else I should know?

Welcome to SDREEFS
Word of advice... research what you are looking for as in live stock..... what they require (tank size, compatability, ease of keeping them alive, feeding requirements)

Then consider your futuristic tank.desires.... does it have corals? If so what fish are reef safe? You don't want to buy something now that you'll get attached to the it eats your corals and money. Leading to being upset with the fish for doing what is natural and having to. Either. House it in the sump or. Another tank until sold or even given away for free to avoid the stress and headache.

There's a million questions to be asked and a lot of different answers to each one. So good luck and welcome.

Consider the energy cost when thinking of size too, though 65 gallons shouldn't be too bad.

thanks for the advice, I haven't really settled on any tank in particular yet. The 65 gallon is about the largest I can fit in the space set aside for a tank, so that's my max. I have been researching quite a bit and I'm going to have to choose my fish/corals based on the tank not the other way around unfortunately. ill be sure to post pics once I do get everything going
