I was going to buy couple of filter socks for 1.5" overflows going into my sump. Marine depot has two different type; berlin and draw sting. Is there an advantage of using one over the other ?

How do you attach them to a 1.5" pipe ? They are like 3" wide.

Usually they rest in a hole in the acrylic top that some sumps have (go to OG to see an example). I used to just rest mine on the corner of the sump, but that's a bad idea because when the filter clogs up, the sump overflows.
THe people at birch cut a small piece of pvc pipe (1") and then cut the ring open, and use that to attach these things to the side of the sump. Doing it that way puts the top of the sock below the edge of the sump, and doesn't allow overflow.

the ones I sell have a 1/2 inch strap across the top of the plastic ring.

The ones with the straps are super nice. I have two of them and alternate between washings.
