Good story. Note: don't read it at 2am, things outside get scary.

I think it ends here where he says, "See all of you soon, with a lot of answers! Love, Ted."

I don't know?

he stuck his glove in the hole and took a picture of it.

luistwentyone

swissfish

You'd be surprised where people go. I was on a cave rescue team for a couple years, there are vastly more people who try this kinda thing and don't come out as well as these guys do is my impression.

Fascinating. I could never do it. Makes me shiver looking at his pictures.

This is really a GREAT story. Has almost a "Poe" quality to it. Thanks for sharing it Sackwack. Where did you find it? This guy write anything else?

I thought it was rather weakly written, let alone anything like Poe. Sure there was suspense, but please lets not compare it to credited authors/writters.

I dunno, It didn't make much of an impression on me. :shrugs:

I also felt it was well written. It was meant to creep people out and it worked on me. Anyway, it made me think twice about taking up cave diving.

Well everyone has there opinion *sigh*.

wsonner, I can hardly take the credit for finding it. The link was posted on another forum that I am involved in. I thought it was good enough to come share with everybody here.

Here is the same story, finished.

A few things have changed and there are no pictures. I would rather read the first one, I like how it ended:eek:

I didn't mean that the quality of the WRITING was Poe-like...just the feeling of the story. Anyway, the short story is really my favorite form of writing and I've read a LOT of them but have yet to find a modern writer worth their salt....though Stepen R. Donaldson isn't too shabby. Maybe we should start a reading forum and make it free to post an avatar ;-).

You guys know the air blowing out of the Tomb? It's really gas. The gas caused the hallucinations, "death" smell, howling, etc. etc. All "good" writers were smoking something right? ;)

People do crazy crap all the time. one time, this guy named Columbus pointed his ship at the horizon with no land in sight and just set sail. Now THATs crazy. I'll have to read this story tonight.

Cool to know is that there are actually strong air currents in caves. Differences in pressure caused by changing temperatures outside the cave throughout the day results in an awesome wind tunnel effect. Quite fun to experience!;)
