ok, I just frag the dead part of the cap.
Is it ok if i did not take all the dead part because i am scared to brake the whole thing off.

and you'd better hurry. mine died in a matter of days after being stung by the frogspawn. take action now.

Funny, my monti cap sat over my frogspawn and got continuously stung for a couple of months. I moved it and it is doing just fine. The undersides where it was in direct contact are still bare, but there is no spreading necrosis. The edges are growing around the 'dead' parts and the upper surfaces were unaffected. I wonder if this is because the frogspawn was never completely shaded and so was never forced to defend territory??

Hope your cap recovers,
J--

if you don't remove ALL the dead or dying parts, the necrosis will spread. There's still a chance it will die reguardless, but if you don't try to frag it, fatality is certain.

I frag all the dead part last night... and when i got home today almost half of the monti is still dying ..
the red circle where the sting start, going up.. did'nt expect that this cup is so sensitive to other corals.

you could try to take it out and put superglue as a line to seperate the dying part from the healthy part. Again, you may lose it, but if you can save a quarter sized frag.... it's better than losing the whole thing.

Yeah I'm slowly losing a cap I have had for a few months for an uknown reason. But it did start after I was messing around the tank thought, that might've done it.
