I have a 3 month old 12g Nano tank and would like to know what supplements should I be using? The tank has 2 gobys, 1 shrimp, 2 featherduster, Green open brain and Xenia.

I also have had a new problem with brown alge floating on top of the water. How can I get it to go away? I do weekly water changes 2g.

Thanks,

Joe

probly should just dose b-ionic and topoff water.

Skimmer might be a good idea....

You need a surface skimmer to remove the surface scum.:D
Pretty easy to make yourself or buy one, they fit right over the return.
Check out nano-reef.com and check out some of the nano cubes
I use Scripps water and do weekly 10% water changes with no dosing.

I use kent marine nanoreef supplement, it's a two part supplement like B-ionic but is made for easier dosing in a small system, 2 drops per gallon.

Fish Haven in escondido sells it, I'm not sure about the other lfs.

I purchase a surface skimmer today. I hope that helps with the surface algae. I also purchased a bottle of b-ionic.

Once again thanks for the help.

What are running in your back chambers?
Hopefully you removed the sponges, bio-balls and ceramic rings.
They are for freshwater setups, not reef tanks.
Your featherduster may slowly waste away from lack of food if you use a mechanical filter like the sponge, unless you spot feed it.
You can setup a nice Chaeto fuge in your 2nd chamber. Check out this link;

I use a few spoons of carbon & a spoon of PhosGuard in a small mesh bag in my 3rd chamber and change it out every couple of weeks.
