Local Collecting

Hi,

What do you guys think about collecting some of the anenomes, crabs, fish or hermits from local tide pools and putting into my Salt Water Reef tank? Is it illegal? Would I have to worry about special diseases? Is there no chance that they will survuive the higher temps(79-80)? Let me know what you guys think.

yep, stuff will die for sure. Bad idea and it might be illegal too.

Most stuff that you'd want to collect is illegal to collect. And if you put that stuff in a reef tank, it WILL die, no doubt about it.

However, if you put some stuff in a tank with a nice phat chiller... :D

Local water temps. range between 60 and 70 degrees ( a cold water tank set up) most animals collected locally will die in a short period of time. Local rock anenomes will live but they may eat your fish. Best advice trade with others form sdreefs or buy from lfs's.
