is it a steady click/click/click or just the occasional single click? The latter would be a pistol and the 1st a mantis likely. When my mantis clicks away at something (usually a snail), there are alot to hear. I would guess if its a mantis it is feasting on your bounty of snails. Hope they are cerith's (sp?) snails so their cheap to replace!

I saw the little beady-eyed little monster last night!

It was peeking out of the rock in which it has made its home... doing a little remodeling at the time and I just happened by when it was pushing out some rock debris.

Haven't heard it in awhile, but I know its in there.

I'm tempted to call it Harriette after the Mike Myers "So I Married an Axe Murderer" main character. If I knew it was female, I'd be all over it, but I'm just not sure. Nor do I have any pics to post to see.

There's some REAL popping going on right now. Sounds like I may need more snails...

You can definitely tell the difference between a pop that isn't aimed at anything and a pop that is hitting snail shell!

The latter's MUCH deeper sounding.
