I was so excited to get it just to let me down on the build quality, mine had silicone looking stuff all over the pump motor and magnets. Took me a while to clean it off making a mess on my granite counter..I expected it be ready to go for the price (video will be up soon so you can exactly what I am talking about). Got it running it does a great job very powerful and it was lifting stuff from the bottom of the tank to the overflow will see how long it last..so I emailed my concern and they got back to me when I already had the pump in the tank that the stuff is used to seal the motor and that I can't use it...that sucks now I have to go out my way with my busy schedule to ship the other one back I work day and night I don't really have much time to go out my way because of a lack of quality control..sorry guys I am just ****** off a little and ranting...but all in all if it wasn't for that I say the pump is doing good at what it is supposed to do..would I recommend it yes..but I will let you know how well it does in the long run...

If the stuff that you cleaned off is used to seal the motor and you are not supposed to use it... will that stuff affect your tank parameters.

They said its inert it shouldn't harm anything but it was a pain to get it off

1st gen issues are expected. Hopefully it works great still in the long run. And if anything hope they have good c.s.

I'm considering getting one of these for my 75g (36"x24"x20"). I'm wondering if on low it moves enough water and doesn't stir the sand all over the tank.

Just today I thought about getting one because my overflow on my tank is a trapezoid and there in not enough room to put MP40 on eight side of the trapezoid. I was thinking of getting one gyre and putting in the middle of the trapezoid and letting it be the sole pump for flow across my 60" peninsula.

I know it isn't like the ecotech that can turn down at night but I don't care... I am not going back to MP pumps after using this

I use a WP-40 to do it but I know what you mean. The pumps flow was amazing. I just wish the controller was better is all.

I set it to shut off with my apex

Put it on a timer dude. I run my actinics and both RW pumps on a timer during the day. At night its only the MP-10's and the return pump.

I thought about doing that too but I have my pumps on the Apex variable speed so that the current changes throughout the day. They also flush twice a day. I guess after having an Apex for so long I just didn't want to go back to a single flow pattern. I'm sure Maxspect, or someone in the community, will figure out a way to integrate with the Apex to allow variable speeds and programming. I figure I'll buy it again when that happens. Like I said, the pump is hands down the best flow pattern I have ever used and I've had MP's, Tunze Streams, and WP's. I just couldn't get over not being able to control it from an Apex, or any controller, like I can with other pumps.

I love mine. Don't have a controller though so no issues for me. Don't run em dry though, they fail.

This thing is a game changer, replaced a mp40 and a wp25 in my 100 gal peninsula and I'm not looking back
