I found that Best Buy will take all sorts of smaller items like cords, cables, chargers, etc. Before I take everything there, are there any better options? Not looking for any money, just want to dispose of all this crap in the most efficient and appropriate way.

TIA.

The SD dept. of Public utilities (behind AW, right on the corner of Kearny villa and complex) has recycling drives on the weekends every now and then. Id check their website or give them a call.

Fry's has periodic events for free recycling of e-waste. I think they do it every Saturday now.
University of San Diego has a recycling center. http://sites.sandiego.edu/ewaste
Recycle SanDiego has free events every Saturday at 8222 Ronson Road. http://recyclesandiego.org/listing/kearnymesa-headquarters/

Most (if not all) RadioShacks accept old cell phones and all rechargeable batteries.

OK, so what I am seeing Is that while there are many options, they all are the same, just different times and locations. Thanks folks!

Check out linkserve, they acutally pay you 10 cents per pound on certain items like TV's and computers. I know 10cents is not much, but it is convenient as they are open everyday so you don't have to wait around for a recycling event to happen.

Well that was awesomely simple. I went to Best Buy during lunch and was in and out of there in 2 minutes. They took everything.

OK m ore recycle questions. What about old aquarium pumps, and a giant Maglite flashlight that could easily double as a weapon? :)
