So I just got word that after 14 years living in my place that the property is up for sale.
I'm a little overwhelmed w/ the thought of all the crap I need to unload, and where I'm going to move to, and of course, where is my tank going to go since I will be looking for a rental, and who knows what will be allowed.
So, right now my thoughts are possibly downsize to a tank that will house my clowns only, and sell my beautiful Leemar starfire tank, and my one of a kind mahogany stained glass octopus cabinet.
Wondering what kind of interest would be had in these goodies?
Toying w/ the idea right now, serious interest could pull me that way.

I just got news this am of house being sold, not a lot of places are going to allow a 150g tank is what I'm thinking about right now.
I've been posting pics of my tank on sites for a few years now.

Hey Dave...As someone who just finished up the quest for a rental property, I never asked if the tank would be allowed. The lease paperwork we had on our last place and this new place only made reference to water beds not being allowed. One place didn't allow "water-filled furniture" but the guy told me they are specifically concerned only with water beds. So unless you are stuck in the '70s and insist on having a water bed, I wouldn't worry too much about being allowed to keep a fish tank. Also, State Farm who I have insurance with, specifically includes fish tanks in their coverage and they do not specify any limit to size. I asked about it when I had my 300g up and my agent told me that a fish tank is a fish tank. No special consideration was needed for a tank that big.

Hopefully you can find a place that you like and they will be cool with a tank whichever way it goes.

Thanks for info Dave!
I'm basically feeling out possibilities right now, and not feeling groovy about waterbeds, so we cool!

Same as what Dave said. I've been in two different rental homes with big tanks(200+ gals) one of which I am in right now and I've never had an issue. I got the same thing about the "water furniture" and I was told that an aquarium is not considered furniture. Also got the same information from the renters insurance companies. Doesn't matter how big the tank is. When I was looking for an apartment that was a different story though. I guess it depends on the complex but the two that I looked at wouldn't allow fishtanks above 50 gallons on the second floor but on the bottom floor there was no restrictions. Anyway, hope our experiences help and you don't have to get rid of that beautiful tank.

We don't need to worry about Dave getting rid of his beautiful tank. He'll just build another incredibly beautiful stand/canopy that will make us all jealous so no big deal. :)

I say keep it. Too many cheapskates on here. Hard to get what that piece of art is worth.

You could always let someone house it for you for awhile until you get your housing figured out. I'm sure someone would :) I would lol :)

Beautiful tank and unique stand and canopy. If you don't mind me asking, where did you get the stand and canopy? I wouldn't mind getting something silmilar to that.

Yes I built this myself, and after all the time and work it took to do it right I will most likely never build one like this again, though I agree I can and most likely will build something nice if I do downsize.
Looking at all options, thanks for kind words and support, not easy for me.

Sorry to hear Dave. I've seen this tank and the craftsmanship on the wood work is excellent. I wish I had the room for it.

Dave if you decide you want to store it for a while I will make room in my garage for you.

Will you give me as good a deal as you did on the last 150g tank I bought from you :) Sorry to hear about you having to move and breaking down/selling the tank. I wish I was ready to get back in.

Yeah brian, you know how it goes, kinda sucks, just bad timing.
Oh well, every closed door usually opens a window to opportunity, I can build other windows to the sea.
I think I have a buyer for all except my cabinet, maybe, or maybe not livestock too, and that allows me to keep my cab that I put my heart into, which is worth more than just money, and I WILL be keeping my clowns.
I'm looking for a starfire cube, 30-60g for them if anyone has one, a solana or something would be cool.

That's the good part, they wanted it built as an inwall, so not only do I get to keep my octo cabinet for what I WILL REBUILD LATER, but I get a cabinet build out of the deal too.
In the meantime, I plan to keep my clowns and nem, so I am looking for a nice cube, plan to do something really cool w/ it, wheels in my head are spinning!
