Moved from the O.C. down here to Poway, have been lurking for many years, but now a resident. This place is cool. Sold my old 100G Lee-mar, couldn't store during the move. Just picked up a Innovative Marine nuvo 24, with the Maxspect 420R 16000K 27". Going to be interesting moving down in size, but nanos are fun too. :)

Looking for advice on what lfs to frequent? any advice would be helpful. I am in North Poway off Espola rd. Going to need some Live rock pretty soon(week or so). Any advice would be welcome, and any locals to me, let me know, eventually my corals are your corals. :) I have always been a guy that like to collect and share with the community.

Look forward to meeting some cool people, SD seems to be more "chill" than the O.C. so far. great place.

talk soon, still moving in, and unpacking.

Welcome, many of us in the general area. You are closest to Aquatic Warehouse and AquaSD which are also the two LFS I frequent the most. A few of the SDMAS BOD members are also in Poway (JT_Milstead) and Larry (Bbandu). I'm personally in Rancho Penasquitos so not too far. I know Larry has a lot of Live Rock so you're probably in luck finding it close.

+1 on Larry for the rock. He's probably less than a 5min drive from where you are on Espola. I also live in the area in Rancho Bernardo and I use the same LFS's as Marlin. ASD and AW for most of my needs. Welcome to SD.

gonna agree with the others on aqua sd and aquatic warehouse. if it's an emergency and you need something the petco on rancho carmel off carmel mtn rd is a good back up. used to be a very knowledgeable guy that worked there. not sure if he is still there.

SD is much more laid back than the OC.

+1 on the petco. I'm over there frequently, mainly just to browse since its so close. They always have a good selection and everything I have bought there has been healthy. AW and ASD are the closest LFS and both are great.

For dry goods & hardware, custom aquatic in vista has some of the best prices around.

I like custom aquatics a lot, but aren't they headed into the hydro realm more an more? I was planning on buying a cube there but was disappointed when they didn't sell custom tanks anymore.

could be mistaken but i used to always be there. im up in north county as well.

Thanks all for the tips. And Larry, I will talk to you soon. I hope to get this thing filled with water this weekend, but probably next. Still unpacking tons of boxes, and wifes priorities not the same as mine. lol... Anyways, heres a pick of my Nuvo 24. just unpacked and slapped on its stand. I will start a thread in nano section once I really get going, also just ordered a Jebao wp25 wavemaker, gonna play around with that to see how it works...
